The car has arrived at the dealer! It's been a long summer of waiting, but the Autumn should be great. I appreciate that there are a lot of "R's" about, but after considering all the options, Type R, Focus RS & 135/140i, I thought that this would suit me the best. I am a bit of a fast Golf fan too.
Collection after a Ceramic coat on Wednesday. Dealer is under strict instructions to only PDI it, not wash it, and leave the covers on until it arrives at the detailers.

Hahaha, he specifically asked VW not to apply the top coat incase it wasn't up to the required standard.
Still, great car, enjoy (well as much as you can do while having sleepless nights about birds stting on a golf)
Not at all, just want it to start out as good as it can, there are quite a few threads about dealers inflicting scratches and swirl marks even before the cars turned a wheel. Just trying to avoid that.Still, great car, enjoy (well as much as you can do while having sleepless nights about birds stting on a golf)

Spot on.We took delivery of a new 3 series earlier this year and I'd tried to arrange for a detailer to do a new car prep.
Annoyingly I couldn't find one in the area in time. We collected the car as usual and there were already light circular scratches. Apparently within acceptable amounts they reckoned.

When are they planning on applying the topcoat
S**t! I knew something wasn't quite right! spookly said:
I've had my R Estate in Lapiz for about 10 days now. Don't believe the optimistic mpg figures from VW.... I've averaged about 20mpg. May be down to enthusiastic driving though.
Manufacturers figures are pretty much always misleading. From the people I know with them, once run in, 30mpg is achievable. My commute is 15 minutes, so it won't be the end of world if I get a bit less. They're supposed to be driven enthusiastically, you're doing the right thing! Hope you're enjoying it.

Nice colour! are they the only alloys available? I know its subjective but I can't help not really like them!
Thanks! To be honest I'm with you on the wheels. There is an optional 19" wheel which looks great, but... I think they highlight the slightly puny looking discs and you can also see a lot of the underneath of the car through them, if that makes sense? All completely subjective I know, and I did agonise over the wheels more than any other option. In the end, I thought, I can pocket the grand or whatever the extra was and change them down the line to a wheel I really do like. I'll probably stick to 18's though.
