I'm also amazed at a) how they sound, and b) how quickly I've forgotten that F1 should sound like this.

Probably at least partly to blame for my absolute apathy regarding today's F1.

There are no quite cars in BOSS smile The start with 30 cars at WOT is really something and I think this is what so much motorsport is missing today.

The 2017 Calendar will be up on bossgp.com shortly - anyone attending let me know and I'll sort some garage access out!

That would be absolutely awesome if you're serious. I'd love to have a nose around the garages!

Great thread!
Question: why are the calipers so thick? Is it simply that the pads have to be super thick to last a whole race?

What a fascinating story! BossGP is a great series, which gets bigger every year. I will visit the event in Assen next year, Hope to see you race over there.

Is there much difference between the Cosworth V10 in the Minardi, and the V10 in Zwart's Jaguar and/or Gerstl's Toro Rosso?

Definitely going to a round of this next year. Can't believe the grandstands are so empty in the YouTube clips. I did think it should be a support series for the contemporary F1 but then I realised it would show it up a bit!

If Cosworth could be persuaded to manufacture and run some more of those V10 engines, and you could find someone to design and build a car with similar (or simplified) tech to circa 2004 F1 cars - what a wonderful one-make series you could have eh? A grid of V10 cars that look/sound much like F1 did a decade ago, without the headache of trying to run an actual 12 year old F1 car with no factory support.

I was thinking super league formula, they had V12s though. It would have been much more appealing without the tenuous football links.

Towards the end of the 3 litre V10 formula, I read that Cosworth's V10 was making more than 800 BHP and revving to 18,000 RPM (some what more I guess than Super League and A1GP). Although of course that was in the "money no object" world of F1, and you might choose to de-tune/restrict the engines for better reliability today (not sure if the BOSS teams are already doing that?).

It could definitely be more of a spectacle than A1GP and Super League, and would likely appeal to all the fans who feel disenfranchised from today's F1. But I guess it won't happen, because the running/entry costs would still likely prove to be prohibitive to seeing a full grid of cars.

The next best thing is BOSS - hope we might see some more F1 cars from the V10 era next year?
