Hi All,

I've owned some "epic" cars in my time - I'm 30 now and decided to buy a kit car - Westfield SEIW

Here is a wee list of my cars over the passed 10 year

Nova 1.2
Saxo 1.0
Pug 106 1.4
Focus 1.8
Vectra SRI
Impreza Sport
Imprea UK Turbo
Impreza WRX Bugeye
Impreza Bugeye STI Prodrive
BMW E46 M3 in Topaz Blue but then resprayed Alpine white
Mitsubishi Evo 8 MRFQ340
BMW E46 M3 Carbon Black
Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type UK Hatch
BMW E46 M3 Dakar Yellow
Ford Escort Cosworth
Focus RS MK1
BMW E46 M3 Grey
Focus RS MK2
Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 2
Mitsubishi Evo 8 White
Subaru Impreza Type r
Mitsubishi Evo 6 White
Westfield

This is in as good an order as I can remember.
I haven't added in company cars or cars I have bought for the wife - There has been a fair few of them - MK5 Golf TDI, Seat Ibiza tdi, Mer A class amg super diesel

Here is a few of my old cars over the passed few years in no order

MK1 RS - Was around 380bhp

MK2 RS - Was not impressed with this at all.

Evo 8 MRFQ340 was 412bhp - Was a fun car

Evo 8 260 which was about 340 bhp

Evo 6 - Made 342bhp - I loved this but it was not as raw as the Impreza

LOVED this - I have had 5 of these but this was my favourite

E46 M3
MK1 RS - Was around 380bhp

MK2 RS - Was not impressed with this at all.

Impreza Type R - Loved this, was a hell of a car

Evo 8 MRFQ340 was 412bhp - Was a fun car

LOVED this - I have had 5 of these but this was my favourite - Had a cam, headwork, ported/polished,stainless exhaust and was a SMG

And another

Escort Cosworth Big Turbo Lux - 501bhp Built by A1 - Was utter MENTAL

Series 2

Genuine Westfield SEIW in a colour I am still not sure of, its got a really good spec an good quality parts on it.

Bought it back in March and suffered engine failure a week after buying it, had it rebuilt but am now about to start my Ninja bike conversion (starting tomorrow)

Engines spec

Rebuild with all new gaskets etc 900 miles ago.

1700 xflow
Big valve head
Forged pistons/rods (pistons modified for the big valves)
Gas flowed
Twin 40s
711 block
Formula Ford crank
Ken cam and pulley
Burton Power rocker
Baffled/shortened sump
Omex Rev limiter

Can't remember all the spec but it goes well and is great fun up on these highland roads.

I'm just outside Inverness so have some cracking roads to entertain myself on.

The driving experience is like no other, sold my 400 bhp Evo 6 to buy this just for use on weekends and it's mental, the current engine is not the most powerful on the planet but fun none the less.

Tomorrow I will be starting my Ninja Turbo conversion, was going to be a plain old ninja but after much research I think I'm going to be sticking a turbo on it, I have a spare engine for when it implodes/explodes.

Was possibly thinking about changing the colour of the car over winter but not too sure to what.

Will keep this up to date if anyone is interested.

Anyway less chat, here are some pics.

You're not very good at parking, are you?

biggrin

Nice car. I guess the logical paint answer would be Kawasaki green but I imagine that's really common for cars with that conversion.

Parking is not my strong point.

Removed the stickers off the bonnet aswell.

Did the NC500 since it's on my doorstep and the only damage I picked up was

Fuel gauge sender failed
Rear coilover bush failed
Front mudguard weld broke (1 mile from my house on the way home)

Apart from that it was perfect, roads are destroyed up the West Coast so was pot hole dodging alot.

Great fun smile

Yea there are plenty that colour, was thinking about a blue of some sort.

It would be mental smile

They seem to make make mad money now. I sold my red Escort Cossy for what I thought was good money, should of hung onto to it, they make stupid cash now.

Ninja Turbo until I can think/find something else haha.

Be a good winter project.

So ive got a really bad itch for one of these. I get married in March so looking at getting one after then when it will be more effort for the wench to try leave me for my car problems. I really want a Seight or a Zetec.

Would you say its more of an event to drive than the Evo? I also have a bad itch for an R33 skyline but as a weekend car I think the Wwestfield might be a better option.

You don't have to tell me, just the engines alone are worth more and more year on year.
I have an ex Rallycross YB turbo going in my SeiW this winter. Aiming for 800bhp/tonne.

I have a bigger grin on my face driving this than the Evo or the Escort Cossy which was 500bhp.

There's something about wearing a helmet, been so close to the ground and the awesome handling which all works together to provide an awesome laugh.

Riviera Blue is a beauty of a colour, was thinking I may wrap it so I can go back to the manly purple if I change my mind.

Always liked the idea of owning a Westfield / Caterham but I think I'm too much of a lump to fit comfortably? I like the simplicity though. Especially with something on carbs or ITB's.

Colour change definitely gets my vote.

Roads around Inverness are awesome. I flew up and bought an old e21 323i which I then drove home. I would love to go back in my M3 but I couldn't live much further away. (while remaining in UK)

What sort of power with the new conversion give you?

I'm no skinny chicken and I fit no bother - 6ft and 17stone and ive even got room to sit in it comfortably.

Is it a E36 or 46 M3, I've had 4 of them - Alpine White,Steel Grey,Carbon Black and my favourite Dakar Yellow.

Im going to go against the grain and say keep the colour, its different and I like it a lot. Passed up on the opportunity to own a cheap metallic Pink Caterham recently due to lack of space and an impending house purchase, kicking myself now tbh !

I've always had an itch for one of these too, but for some reason have dodged the xflow and pinto engines. Reading your posts suggests that I may need to re-adjust my thinking.

Stu - The Xflow is a brilliant engine, can take a good beating and is ultra reliable. It's a decent package. I have done alot of miles this season in all conditions and it's never missed a beat. You can't beat the snort off carbs.

Mark that's a beauty of an E30. Lovely.

I wasn't sure about buying one even when I went to buy this one but when I arrived at the lads house and got a run in it I fell in love. It's like driving a go kart.

I've been up Applecross a few times with it since Applecross isn't that far from here, it's always a good run but it's a ste road, views are good but the road is in a hell of a state.

Not a great deal happening this week to be honest.

I have found a buyer for all the current running gear so that saves me storing it.

Engine hoist arrived so built that last night and also tidied the garage for engine removal which I think I am going to start tonight by draining all fluids and going from there.

SKC have fabricated my new engine cradle
I've received my prop adapter and modified gear selector
I got a akrapovic carbon ZX9 exhaust off a local lad aswell for a steal which was good

Was not sure if I was going to fit a reverse kit but I think i will now.

Going back to SKC next week and will order up my billet gear lever kit, drop my loom off to be extended and modified and a few other bits.

MDMA .

I went to the Westfield garage more than 20 years to buy one. sales guy took me out in their demonstrator. same colour but with a Vauxhall 2.0 16v engine in. what a car it was.

my Dad thought it was too fast for me frown ended up with a oak green GTi instead smile
