Have been meaning to update this.

Car is currently at Scottish Kit Car Centre getting the following done

Wiring loom fitted
Sequential Gear shifter and cable set up
Throttle Cable
Clutch Cable
Reverse kit fitted
Dash set up along with the engine

Had a bit of a nightmare, when I was sold the engine it came with ECU/Loom, so i got the kit car centre to make up the loom to adapt for the car.

I got a call last week to say they couldn't get the bike engine to start, turns out the loom/ecu is from a later model of that engine and has a cam position sensor which my engine doesn't.

So I had to source another loom/ecu.
I was then called to say the engine has the wrong coil packs on it (later ones) and it should be the earlier ones so I have sourced them also.

They should be here tomorrow and hopefully they will get it all up and running for me.

Did you call whoever sold you the engine? Seems to me that they owe you a few quid and an apology?!

I did think about it but I bought the engine kit in September and contacting him now will be pointless, if he lived closer I would go and visit him but Wales is a bit far from me smile

Just can't wait to get it back, hoping to collect it a week Saturday.

Great car and recently gone through the purchase (if not yet collection of) a Westfield

I only really considered the two extremes of the Westfield engines - bike or V8, both have clear positives and negatives

Ended up buying a dry sumped, throttle bodied, DTA managed 5.1 litre V8 which I'm collecting on Saturday

5.1 V8 that will be good fun.

Best car I have every owned.

The bike conversion has cost double what I budgeted for but it's not a project unless it goes over budget.

A long awaited update.

Well this was deemed project failure.

The conversion was nothing but hassle in every sense.

Drove to Edinburgh to collect the car, trailored it home, filled it with coolant and it was spraying water out of cylinder 1 - Head gasket failure.

I took the engine out that day, took the engine back to the company 170 miles 1 way. They then stripped, skimmed the head, new gasket etc.

I went to collect the engine, refitted it, then the bd wouldn't start, I tried everything but it would just wind over.

At this point I was just gutted, fed up etc etc The company asked me to get the car back to them and they would get it to run for me, turned out to be some broken wires on the loom that was made for it...

I then got the call to say the car was ready so headed back down to collect, got it home, tighened everything up, gave the car a once over, got it up to temp and took it a wee 2 mile run, came back gave the car another check then went on a 7 mile run (its a route of backroads hence I know the distances)

Next morning decided to take it a proper run, 3 miles in it blew a hole in the block................................................................

I could of cried, I then took the decision on the Sunday afternoon I wanted to sell it, I had a spare engine but couldn't face putting another engine in it etc I had just lost all faith an motivation.

It's a relatively well known car throughout the forums and plenty of lads offered to come and do the engine for me in return for a place to stay while they do it and beer tokens but I kindly rejected the offers.

By Monday morning someone had called me, done a BACS transfer and was arranging the car to be delivered to Essex.

The project was a failure and I lost a small bit of money not a great deal only around £3k but I sold the old running gear which was £2k so offset that against the cost of the car and it's not huge compared to what it could of been.

Now here is advice for anyone looking to do a car to bike engine conversion, this is only based on my opinion and experience on this.

Don't do it, I noticed the car lost its "fun" and driveability with the bike engine, it made it alot more harsh and I just didn't enjoy it, I think it blowing up was a good thing as It's gone and I have the Porsche to replace it.

I felt like the bike engine was slightly underpowered - It was only a ZX9 but I was expecting it to be alot quicker, the feel for the pedals wasn't that good at all.

I only did the conversion for the noise haha and it cost me.

I will never send my car to another company also, the price of labour these day's is mental, I can do car engine conversions no problem but I know nothing about bike so didn't feel confident with the wiring.

Will I miss it with the bike engine? - NOT AT ALL

Do I wish I kept the XFLOW in it - YES

I drove it for a season and it was good fun and it had us wanting a convertable since going in my mates MX5.

Anyway - Are kit cars fun - YES amazing crack, if you don't "fk about" with them haha.
