That was also my initial plan but when the floor was cut out I just thought why not, got a cav gsi for next to nothing with all the running gear etc. Making up a set of driveshafts for it at work due to the different lengths.

Kind of feel bad doing it to a gsi but was pretty far gone with the rot. Here's a few more pics.

A wee pic of the fuel set up being used

Just fantastic. As an ex nova red top driver that had the SBD 208 kit onit, massive respect to the work you've put in. Next level indeed.

Wow I remember this car from the PNG days, it was owned by a lad called Steve from memory. We all went to Belgium to the Opel treffen a few times.

Great work and good to see another nova lives on

Thanks guys means a lot! Will help spur me on a bit. Wish I'd cracked on a bit more with it instead of tinkering with my other car.

Haha I know mate definitely born with the wrong name.... lol

That nova would have went rather well with the sbd kit I'd imagine!

Should have posted more pics at the start of the build I've got an abundance of them haha

Front and rear suspension set up is all rose jointed too, the original plan was to use the cav rear axle, it was just too heavy and clumsy so that was ditched in favour of this. Using front coilovers on the rear too.

Yes mate, Steve Latimer had it around 2002 or so, he's the one that had it as per the first pic I posted.

I love the nostalgia of the first few pics,

The 'bad boy' bonnet, the splitter, the M3 style mirrors, the softstars and then the allessio 2's. Remember Wheelbase was it, having the 'last few ever' sets of Allessio 2's for about 5 years?

All standard stuff from Max Power, Revs and your local McD's drive through from about 15-20 years ago.

I am firmly not a fan of Vauxhalls and especially not of the inevitable Barry'd Nova's and Corsa's.... However this I like. smile
Seems like this Barry knows what he is doing! Also not a nova fan but this looks like a serious project being executed very nicely. Good work op!

I actually love the look of it in that first pic. My favourite pic of the car. I've still got all that parts for it too can't bring myself to sell anything haha

Aye lol wheelbase were saying that for years. I'll also be keeping my set of those and the soft stars but I'll be using these on it.

Yeah I know a lot of people aren't nova fans but it's good to see people appreciate the work smile

You are a complete nutter. smile I salute you. This'll be like a mini Integrale.

First new car I ever bought was a Nova SR back in the '80s (before the GTE/GSI was available). Still have a soft spot for them.

Any idea when the build will be complete and ready to show off at a Sunday Service?

Haha yeah should be a hoot to drive. If it's. Abit much I'll probably have to go for a smaller turbo but hopefully all good.

Ah nice one, I always wanted one when I was growing up would have been good to get one new but I'm far too young for that lol

Really not sure tbh, the plan was to have it built a year ago but I bought a house so that was a set back. Maybe next year if not fingers crossed the year after. I could maybe have it running next year but it won't be the spec I want.

I'm interested in whether you intend to use it on the road, and what inspections have to be done. I assume an SVA/IVA or something?

Would be a shame if it was not road legal when you finish it.

The plan would be to have it road legal I've heard before I'd need an sva test. I wonder if I just stuck it in for a normal mot would it be picked up etc? I have no idea. Not looked that far ahead tbh

Maybe someone could shed some light on this issue?
Cheers

After a bit of research it could very well have to have a q plate.. I do wonder about just putting in for the mot and seeing what happens though? Maybe that would cause insurance problems etc though. No idea ??

Major chassis modifications, different engine, suspension etc. It'll need an IVA. ~£500

Have a read through this - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/iva-man... and make sure it'll pass. As you're using the original Nova things for the boring stuff it should be fine on most and the quality looks top notch so shouldn't be an issue there.

Very cool project indeed!

I'm keen to see a C20LET tuned to 600bhp, don't think I've seen any go near that figure before.
