Cheers for the link bud I'll have a gander when I get 5 minutes to myself

There's actually quite a few running some serious power these days. A few over 1000bhp! I'll be happy with between 5-600 tbh

Barry,
Are the C20LET's running 1000bhp+ in Novas? I suspect the Corsa C (00-06) will be the main tuning car but they are fat fkers compred to the Novas so 700-800bhp in a Corsa C will be a similar power to weight ratio..

Yes there's a few in Europe , corsa a technically. Fwd drag cars. There's some videos on YouTube etc. I've no intention of going up that high. I just want to to be something totally daft really lol

The engine spec mine is being built to is apparently good for the 600 but we shall see. Engine stuff is the last thing on my list to be done though.

Love reading 'daft' stuff like this, looks like some quality work has gone into your Nova.

Looking forward to more updates!

WOW, you forget how little metal was actually used in old cars! No wonder they folded up like cardboard in a crash! Light though, light as fook, so go well with less power! ;-)

Bean tins, but hilarious fun though. I'm amazed I lived through those years. You're right about it being a hoot with the 208 kit on it, it was as fast as the calibra turbo we slung in my mates nova a few years later. Totally different feel to the engine though. I massively rate Steve Broughton as a tuner as the guy was way ahead of everyone else back when I was playing with novas.

I'll never forget long after I'd sold mine and bought the Cosworth we took Fly Tipping the max power photographer for a wee run in the aforesaid Calibra turbo nova when max power came to town.

Off the clock down the M74 and boosting like an exocet missile to the horizon while watching the tall bugger almost pulling the grab handle off the roofline as he giggled his tits off was a fun summers night indeed.

st the bed I miss being young!

Major chassis modifications, different engine, suspension etc. It'll need an IVA. ~£500

Have a read through this - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/iva-man... and make sure it'll pass. As you're using the original Nova things for the boring stuff it should be fine on most and the quality looks top notch so shouldn't be an issue there.
Unlike the very special Zonda we had hehe it's still SORN

Impressively mad. Reminds me of that 4x4 cossie fiesta from knockhill back in the day.

Am I being mad though, or are they corsa headlights you've got on the car? IMO this car is coolest in original period form - either standard gsi or "subtle max power of the day". Just my 2p but to make it look a bit "barried" to coin a better term smile

Haha that's brilliant! I've only ever been in one other nova turbo and it went very well! I do love hearing people's stories like that! Awesome.

That's a pic of a corsa bud I added that in by accident! It does have the inlet and intercooler that are now in my possession though. It's nova lights that will be on mine. It'll look like a standard gsi from the outside except in carbon bud

A family member spent about £25 grand ... Before the VXR transplant ... on his nova bringing it up to a Rallycross replica / spec, after about 3000 miles the engine blew and he is in the process of fitting the VXR 2.0 turbo.

It stayed FWD with around 170bhp (before it blew) and was rapid! With 600 and AWD this will be mental, enjoy!

Floor is all welded up now. Got some strengthening to go in the rear quarters on the inside, some fillers on the floor at the front where the tube comes through and bits at the bulk head to do. Hopefully get them done next weekend.

A few more pics. I'm a little disappointed, the car has sat for around a year so looks a bit shabby. When the last of the welding is done next weekend it'll be put back on the spit then blasted and get some primer on it.

Edit- photo bucket seems to be throwing a wobbler on me just now. I'll try the pics later.

Thanks mate. When I get a spare minute I'm going to make the rear arms out of 1 piece alloy also.

That's awesome. Back in the day when I passed my test (2000) a few of my college mates had Nova's. Very tidy and smart looking little cars that ended up ruined or crashed.

Good to see one being cherished and when I say cherished I mean turned into something mental haha. Top work OP. smile

Great project!

Ive a lot of love for Nova's, I had 2, my last was an SRI and was a great car in its time, wish Id kept it now.

I remember seeing a RWD Nova at Santa Pod, that lunched very well.
