Surprised by the positive response! The other I was looking at from Aberdeen OPC was grey, definitely prefer this one!

Had mine a month now and absolutely adore it.
Also manual, spyders and carbon buckets. Had a few upgrades too inc titanium exhaust, some power upgrades and chassis additions too.

Best colour for a Cayman R by miles, wishing you well with yours. :

Yours looks good on the silver wheels. Think I'll do similar if mine are ever in need of a refurb!

How do you find the titanium exhaust? I like the PSE on mine but sometimes feel like it could use a touch more noise so am considering a Carnewal one...

Titanium exhaust is a lovely bit of kit, but with the Fabspeed race headers and 200cel cats it can have a slight drone at around 2/3000rpm if you're stuck at that area. However it's not an issue for me as I just drive around it and it's a weekend car. The Mezger'esque howl it makes thereafter is just superb and to me makes the R sound every bit as special as it should do.

Probably the best colour choice - and what amazing seats!
I have always overlooked the Cayman R but over time they seem to have got more appealing - I guess the rise in popularity with the likes of the GT4 should keep values strong as well, particularly now the current gen has the 4 cylinder engine.
I am not sure I can justify probably 3 times the cost over my 2006 S though...or can I....maybe?!
Oh god they are nice!!!

Stunning! A man after my own heart. Car looks beautiful and extra points for mtb on the roof.

Can I ask what camera was used for the initial shots?

Regards,

Tom

Cheers Tom! I'm not sure on the model but it was a Nikon dSLR for the first shots.

Haha, that was pretty much the thought process I went through! Test drove a 981 Cayman and a 987.2 Cayman S but in the end figured that the extra initial cost for the R was offset by the 'specialness' of the car and potentially (fingers crossed) lower cost of ownership if the values hold. A the end of the day though who cares when it's so damn fun to drive!

Nice looking car.

Porsches generally, in my opinion, look good in a pale green with black accents.

You've no taste at all.laugh

That colour in real life (Porsche 275 light green metallic) is fabulous. It's very similar to Peridot but changes colour in different lights from green to gold.

I've got an affliction for unusual paint colours on nice cars. It's not something I'd buy, just appreciate for what it is and the mentality of the person who ordered it biggrin

This is not a marmite colour. I defy any person to argue that it doesnt suit thd nature of the car...yes numpties who know nothing about cars will but you will not find a petrol head who doesn't love it

That is a great car, OP, possibly the best real-world Porsche of recent years and you get another vote for the colour from me. (Although I think I would change the red door pulls, seat belts and gear knob inscription to matching green!) The dealer's photos are pretty impressive, too.

Lovely pictures of your car OP, in fact so much so that the first is my desktop background smile

I had been looking for a 997 gen 2 C2/C2S for a few months, but after some test drives, talking with a few friends, in particular Frayz in fact, I've now taken the plunge on an R, too!

Mine's a similar spec with carbon buckets, spyder wheels, AC, stereo and cruise, but no PSE or Sport Chrono. I'm considering Tequipment to fix that, or a visit to Gert for the Carnewal GT exhaust.

Inaugural outing this weekend and already smitten!

First bit of annoyance with the car this week - had been parked up since Sunday and refused to start on Tuesday (flashing lights, clicking and, bizarrely wound it's windows down). Of course it was parked nose-in to the garage and there's very little space to work on it!

New Bosch S5010 battery ordered and delivered the next day from Car Batteries Online (would definitely recommend this lot):

Looks like it was probably the original Moll battery so that might explain the reluctance to start.

Much better with the new unit in place and very glad that I've not got a Porsche warranty as the total cost was £98 instead of around £260!

One top tip for anyone changing the battery on a 987 Cayman or Boxster - you'll need the key in the ignition and turned one click before you disconnect the negative terminal on the battery or it will do it's very best to deafen you with the alarm! I found this out the hard way... Other than that it's a simple DIY job.

Winter wheels next... I've found a set of 911 wheels on Gumtree locally but am a bit unsure about running a 295/35 R18 profile on the rear. Any thoughts?

Personally I'd stick with black wheels on a green car.

Looks amazing - love the 987 Cayman. You warrantied up on it or do geese not suffer the usual Cayman problems?

I'm in Aberdeenshire as well - might need you to tell me the good routes for "sake of it" drives!

No, no warranty on this one. The Cayman R had the DFI version of the 3.4l engine so most issues were sorted and hopefully keeping it properly looked after will stave off any big bills! Fingers crossed!

I'm still exploring myself to be honest but always enjoy the Old Military Road from Banchory to Fettercain (the Cairn O'Mount photo above was taken there. I also hear good things about the B993 from Inverurie to Whiterashes by am yet to check it out.
