Something for the Winter nights..c63
Discussion
Like others - a car I hope to own one day - although i do think they will be long gone by then.
I even tried to say to swmbo that I would only have it for a year (of course it will be longer than that!) but she knows me too well. Still once the mortgage is sorted in March / April this will hopefully become a reality for me and I can listen to the lovel start up bark every morning.
Although mpg could cripple me I do only do 7 - 8k miles a year - we will just have to use th emissus 1.2 2008 a bit more! (If I can stop driving it - the AMG not 2008!)

The only thing putting me off this car as family transport is the low-rent interior. Owners - how OK is it to live with, really?
it's why I'm looking more seriously at the E63.
Mine's not an AMG but there is the odd rattle and squeak, I feel like the woman off the old VW ads.it's why I'm looking more seriously at the E63.

Isn't the interior near-identical to the E63?
It's a teeny bit narrower than an E, and the materials aren't quite as nice in the C to my perception (I've been in both). The A/C and seat buttons are certainly cheaper looking in the "C" - but they both feel properly engineered like my E46 M3 and V8V did. I wanted a newer car, but without the blown engine - so had to be a C63 for me. pSyCoSiS said:
Lovely car that, and a big congratualtions on your purchase. Now, enjoy the beast.
It certainly does blend in with that spec - ultimate stealth car (until you hear the animal!).
Thank you,it's a lot of fun, hoping to take all four of us out this weekend for a blast. It certainly does blend in with that spec - ultimate stealth car (until you hear the animal!).
Darren - Lovely looking car there,i bet people can tell which side of the island you're on each day.
My other half has owned a C63 estate for the past 4 years as her daily driver and dog wagon. Other than a slight issue with the motor in the steering wheel preventing it from going up or down - it hasn't put a foot wrong. It's still on the original discs after 50,000 miles but does go through rear tyres every 10k.
We bought a full set of 18inch winter wheels and tyres from Mercedes which have been used twice, they're not great when the temperature warms up as the rears are the same width as the fronts in this setup.
I had ours debaged for extra stealth. Other half would like a new car but we can't think what to replace it with.

I've had my C63 coupe for just over a year, done approx. 7k miles in it and averaged 17.8mpg over the 7k miles. I still love driving the car after a year, every cold start still puts a big smile on my face. Only modification I have done is the quaife LSD upgrade, that sorted the grip issues out.
I did a 3k mile European road trip in September and on the autobahn I got to stretch it's legs, got to 160mph in no time in 5th gear (of 7) before hitting the limiter, still had plenty to go.
Biggest problem now is what to get next? Iv'e looked at GTR's, M4, v10 R8's but the sound of the C63 is hard to beat!

I was never an AMG fan, always been a BMW M man and then a friend of mine bought a PPP Coupe in white with a biscuit / tan leather interior. LSD, exhaust slightly modified and a remap. I fell in love start up! Then down shifts. Then the pull from that engine is something else. Felt much more premium inside than run of the mill C classes so I wouldn't class it as low rent. Much nicer than the new C class IMO.
Op - lovely car! I think the 4 door saloon is my favourite! (Although I love the 19's and a touch of CF! Definitely not a drug dealer).

The C63 is a cracking looking car and I've always fancied one. My problem is a labradore a child and a wife who can't pack light to save her life.
We've had the old E with the M156 for nearly 5 years, it gets the big boy power level, discrete looks and a lot of space.
It does however, have a terribly dated gearbox and the 2 piece carbon composite brakes which Mercedes quote £1800 just for the fronts.
A picture of mine yesterday after removing all the bloody road salt.
