Still waiting for the car... Every time I call it's 'It will be ready later today if not definitely tomorrow' which I have heard for 3 days now. I've lost my lift to Basildon now too so have to pay for a fking Uber all the way there. It's all just a bit of a faffery that I could be doing without, but such is life!
I feel your pain.
I was told that my A6 would take 1 month or so to to repair, ended up waiting nearly 4 months

Found out why the belt snapped.. one of the engine mounts had been welded on badly and the engine slipped a bit at some point meaning the belt rubbed against it and eventually snapped which could explain the high pitched noise I was hearing when it died.. they have put on a new engine mount for me free of charge because at the same time I got them to replace the turbo too as he offered to do it half price while they have access too it due to the impeller having some slight play in it. So I thought I'd get that done before it throws up some more problems. Only cost £100 for a 50,000 mile turbo.

So when the car comes back it will have:
- a reconditioned 55,000 mile engine
- new cam belt kit including tensioner and water pump
- new engine mount
- reconditioned 50,000 mile turbo

And I have my coilovers and heko wind deflectors to go on too eventually.

I SHOULD hopefully be getting it today. I have to get an uber all the way to Basildon frown

Keep us posted! Hopefully the nightmare ends.

I think we might have similar car taste - I liked your A3 because it looks like a normal A3 apart from the 2.0T badge on the boot, and I liked this for being a normal Astra apart from the 2.0 Turbo badge on the boot.

(PS - just posting because I've just uploaded it for another forum so I'm using the link before I lose it. I know it's a tangent wink )

We probably do but I'm a bit weird and owned a Juke hehe

That Astra is a tidy car, but I can't bring myself to buy another Vauxhall after having my 1.0 Corsa B. Was almost tempted by something in VXR flavour before buying this but decided against it!

I still don't have the car but the good news is that it started today biggrin I should hopefully (I'm begging) be getting it back tomorrow and I can't wait, even if I do have to drive on the M25 to get home.. I'm also looking forward to trying out the 'launch control' which I read about recently.. red light races are going to be fun!

Another thing on the to do list is to get the DSG box serviced for peace of mind. Definitely don't want anything going wrong with that!

Well I have the car back.. and it's still broken but drivable. EML is on and throwing up a code for low fuel pressure so I had to make sure it was okay to drive until I can get it sorted, hopefully next week. I then drove it slowly home as it doesn't go above 3k (80 in 6th which was annoying on the M25, I got stuck in the outside lane at one point boxedin ) the guys that had it replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and a few other things to no avail so I'm going to take it back next week for new injectors which could be the cause.

At least I have it back I suppose hehe

I take it the garage didn't check it after fitting frown bad show. Should have been run up and tested for a few hours first. Then they could have sorted out any issues that cropped up.

I feel for you mate this car is turning out to be a right lemon. I'd be looking at getting rid as soon as possible before it turns into a complete money pit.

The garage knew about the fault after all the engine was in and it started but I really needed the car for the weekend so went knowing the fault. I'm going to have to live with it until next Wednesday when it will be going back. I'll be getting it done cheaply as I have already spent enough with them and they're offering a huge discount.

After this is fixed the whole engine will be sweet as a nut and I have warranty for the work too, although if anything else goes I will consider selling it, I just can't be bothered with the hassle of that at the moment because I do still love the car.

I'm not familiar with the Audi engines but if the fault code says low fuel pressure that would normally mean that the pressure sensor in the fuel rail is reading low. Quite how this could be due to the injectors I can't see. I would think that if the injectors are causing it they would be laking like a sieve and filling the sump with fuel. Instead of just reading the codes it would be better to put it on the propper diagnostic kit and see what the pressure is. It could be that the pressure sensor has failed which should be a relatively cheap and easy fix. You say it had a new fuel pump fitted. Was it actually new or a used one? That would also be a primary culprit for low fuel pressure. Does this engine use a fuel pressure regulator? If so, that may have failed. But as for the injectors, I can't see how without other very obvious symptoms being seen.

Nice car, shame about the dodgy engine mount causing so much work!
I've been put off Audi's, probably for life, since owning an Allroad with a 2.7T in it and it was an absolutely horrendous pile of bks I wish I'd never set eyes on.

I bought my Audi as a reliable small family car, 1.8 tfsi. Had nowt but problems so far, nothing major in grand scheme of things, mostly routine stuff like water pump. Now I've got a few electrical niggles. Just paid 120 to have the drivers door loom rewired as all the wires were splitting, pig of a job but my city has a top bloke who specialises in vw electrical stuff.

Now the right reversing light intermittently decides to not work, throwing up a warning on the dash to change the bulb. The cluster has been taken out and tested, problem is the wiring, the expert was not keen on attempting to find and fix the wire, he's never had to do one on boot of an a3 so can't predict costs. He's offered a way around it, putting a resistor on the wire, this tells the computer the light works fine, then you connect the right reversing light to the left reversing light so both come on when required.

Audi's are a pain in arse!

Mine will be sold probably before the summer. Probably replaced with a shed for a while until I find the car I really want.

Have a google of the 'cam follower' this can wear down and when it does it causes lots of problems and marks the camshaft. It's only a £35 part and gets changed routinely by quite a few people who are aware of what happens when they fail.

Still driving it broken. Over 1000 miles now, I've forgotten what it's like to go fast.. or even how it feels when I put my foot down frown

Car is going back in the new year to get EVERYTHING sorted. Get this problem sorted (hopefully it's just the injectors), a couple of wheel bearings, a service and a check over underneath to see what bushes etc need changing.

My current thinking process is to get rid when it's fixed, but then I look on eBay and other than a 330ci there's not much else I'd rather have in my price range that will be as comfortable or as quick. I don't think I could be without the DSG box, the heated leathers or Bose frown

The car is going back to the garage next week and I'm going back to my first car.. a 1.0 Corsa B hehe

Going to rag the little blue turd around until the Audi is fixed and sold and then I'm going to buy myself a Corsa VXR I think. I keep coming back to them when looking for a replacement and I'd love to try one.

Don't know your taste but I can recommend a Renault Sport Clio, too.
I've had a couple of 200's and they were properly great.

what a topic!! such bad luck

firstly.... what the hell is a PH worthy car??

i was gonna say that all cars are worthy and if you had a 1.2 clio and did your own services etc you would have become a PH'er and thus has a PH car.

Then you bought a dull audi and thought that was more PH than the clio - its not wink its the same. UNTIL it broke down and caused you a headache...then by understanding what has gone wrong and some of the issues of owning a car, even with 15miles on from the factory you are now more PH than before (if that makes sense). learning to drive in limp mode sounds fun - lots of planning ahead and with ££,£££ invested, you still have a car that is slow and heavy and under-powered haha

then the topic was rounded off nicely with a "you should get a clio"

priceless

good luck and I hope all of this work has been done under warranty

keep us updated
