As a 911 owner, for many of us, a 911 lifted straight from the regular showroom brochure comes close to perfection, whether that brochure be from 1972, 1992 or 2012. Choose a decent colour, maybe a factory rim upgrade, a smattering of gadgets, perhaps a set of coloured wheel centres and you’ve probably just spec’d your dream car.
More than that, you’ve got the purest Porsche possible, one on which every single nut, washer and bolt, has been developed by the Tefal-heads at Weissach after hundreds of thousands of development miles on four continents.
It’s probably fair to say a good chunk of 911 fans aren’t keen on cars that deviate from this official path, whether because they don’t like the aesthetic ‘improvements’ wrought by aftermarket outfits or because they believe the 911’s carefully honed dynamics could only be compromised by messers who can’t possibly be capable of a better job than the people who designed the thing in the first place.
This is why you are getting mixed reviews, it's just the wrong car to conduct these kinds of mods! Imagine you'll find this if you try to move it on...

I like it.
It's same as the modifying thread in GG. Some people think you can't touch certain marques.
Although I'm quite sure there is a long running thread about a modified Mclaren.
I didn't know all your mods till you explained but I was sure you hadn't spent 11k on wheels!
It's hard to believe this is a car enthusiasts site some days.

I think you're missing the point, but weirdly your post suggests you're not completely oblivious to why (and the bolded bit emphasises this).More than that, you’ve got the purest Porsche possible, one on which every single nut, washer and bolt, has been developed by the Tefal-heads at Weissach after hundreds of thousands of development miles on four continents.

Cars are designed to appeal to a wide customer base across many different markets. The fact that these (and most other) cars are 'developed across four continent's means they are compromised so that they can operate in all environments to suit all tastes. They are also compromised to suit legislation.
I live in Scotland so I don't need my aircon to perform in 50 deg heat. The normal working environment of my car will be 20 degrees less than it would be in, say, California so I guess the engines cooling system and performance paramaters could be optimised for me. Also, Carrera's generally are designed with more ride comfort/lack of noise/touring ability than say a GT3, whereas I prefer my Carrera to have a bit more 'edge'. Modifying a car is the only way to get the car perfectly suited to your tastes.
Absolutely love the car and am in the process of trying to source the right 20" wheels for my black 2006 C2S also.
Is there any chance you could tell me the wheel type / rim widths and offets you have there ?
Also, I was concerned that the 325/25r20 rears might hurt the feel of the car as they are 30 mm wider than stock but from what you are saying the difference was not noticeable?
Cheers
