The corsa in question also shares a lot with the Grande Punto and to a lesser extent the Alfa Mito

I drove an 09 plate 1.2 one of these. Possibly the worst engine I've ever experienced (wheezy, asthmatic) coupled with stupidly sized gearing (ie tall ratios that were hard for the engine to push at low revs). Very frustrating to drive. holes).However it was my other halfs car and was dirt cheap for her to buy. Relatively reliable. For a commuting, leave it anywhere wagon it was fine.
Massive improvement compared to the Corsa C however that had the appeal of a mug of cold sick.

Mum's Corsa C is a 1.2. The engine is bad but the clutch is worse- too light / no feeling whatsoever. Can't imagine it'd fair very well in the heavier Corsa D.
This beast is in fact a 1.4 and I'd describe it as adequate. The ride is horrible though. I thought it was because I had hurriedly guessed at the tyre pressures before I put it in for it's MOT, but even with the tyre pressures reduced to the recommended 29F 26R the ride is still horrible.

I had a Corsa D in your standard whatever grey 1.2 edition spec (can't remember the actual name but the most popular standard style).My mum had a MiTo in Veloce spec
My sister had a Grande Punto in Sporting spec.
Both the MiTo and GP had terrible ride quality, my Corsa was fine. Though obviously some of that will be down to low profile tyres and harder suspension there was no need for just how badly the two Italian cars treated imperfections in the road. They both tramlined and both broke your back whenever you went over a speed bump even at low speeds. I used to wince a fair bit on bumpy motorways because of how you used to be jostled about.
