Car all detailed and prepped for Japfest on the weekend. Don't trust myself with a DA so paid someone to give her the once over.

First show since the ongoing paint saga that started last summer. Glad to have her sorted.

Not a lot of actual driving gets done these days, tempted to take it on track but not sure if I dare.

Picked the car up from bodyshop for the 6th and hopefully final time on the weekend. Never getting a car resprayed again, for my own sanity more than anything else!

Good opportunity to actually drive it, I had been having serious thoughts about selling up due to the emotional and financial drain this car has been (down to various painters and poor luck rather than the car itself). I realised on the weekend that i've only done 1000 miles in the last 6 months!

So i chucked £60 of V power in and went for a drive, and remembered why i like it so much. It's easy to forget when the car spends the majority of its time either parked up or in and out of bodyshops!

I've decided to keep it for now and make more of a conscious effort to use it, and plan some trips so that i'm getting something back from how much i've put in. Won't be doing any major mods, as much as I would like to...but at least she looks pretty and should do for a while.

To anyone thinking about buying a DC5, I couldn't recommend it enough tbh. For the money and the very reasonable running costs, it's a great blend of performance and practicality.

Nah, I bought it from a guy locally beginning of last year.

I have taken it off the road to repaint the engine bay and freshen it up a bit, but unfortunately I keep adding to the to-do list and I don't seem to be getting any closer to being road worthy!! I've got a build thread on PH if you fancy taking a look.

I'll take a peek, always up for DC5 content!

Due to marriage expenses it looks like i won't make any more shows this summer, so trying to come up with little weekend cheap trips to take the car on.

Wow, haven't updated this for a while. It's been a fairly uneventful past few months for the car...I was out with shoulder surgery so couldn't drive it for about 7 weeks. Amazingly it started up first time, considering the battery size i'm pretty impressed that it made it that long sitting.

It just sailed through another MOT, 2000 miles done since the last one!!

The original clutch is starting to let go at around 71k, so going to need to get that done after xmas...bit dull, but only around £450-500 all in.

No money for mods these days, so it's very much a case of washing it, waxing it, and stretching its legs once a week until the salt arrives!

Still umming and ahhing about selling up, but may as well hold onto it until at least the spring.

Honda hq for your clutch mate, if you are local to Cannock. They did everything on my dc5 before I got rid

I'll second Honda HQ, I went from Bristol to get a Diff, Chain, Clutch and few other bits sorted on my EP3. Well worth it.

Cheers, have heard good things about them.

Fortunately for me i live pretty much around the corner from Dream Automotive, so get them to do most bits and pieces as it's so convenient!

Phil and the guys are very enthusiastic and there's often some very interesting cars hanging around there.

Very nice original car there, makes a change. Most of the ones I've seen have been modified externally and I don't personally think it does them any favours!

cheers, yeah it's probably the first car i've owned which i've felt so strongly about keeping original and faithful...even down to the OEM wheels, which i genuinely like.

The only mods on the car are a carbon CAI intake, and an unsilenced mid pipe, not really looking to do anything more, and want to keep the value in it.

Have been looking for my next car. Started looking at Clio 182/197s etc and upped my budget to about £6K to look at an RS200 then thought what else is out there and started looking at these and had a search on found your thread and can see a decent car/import is about £8/9K.

Looks lovely in Milano red. Why does choosing a car prove so difficult. smile

Looking for something with usable performance but not too modern but not priced silly due to investment opportunities.

Fantastic cars, truly...I actually sold up to another PHer around a month ago, but it was a financial decision rather than anything to do with the car.

In terms of useable and affordable NA performance they are a brilliant drive.

So I guess that closes this chapter and particular Reader's cars story. I have something else in the pipeline, should be with me in around 4-5 weeks all being well.

You did what?!

I assume it’s something coming directly from Japan?

I know mate, true head over heart decision, but in the long run i'll be better off for it.

In a manner of speaking, yes, i'm buying someone's daily who is waiting for their new car to come off the boat from Japan.

Sufficed to say, it is JDM and rare, and weird, and very very different to a DC5.

Exactly what I did when in was looking. (Until I bought James' car...)

Some stters around even for top money. I think I was lucky I got this car James clearly looked after it.

Looking forward to seeing what car you get mate

It’s stange how I ended up looking this way.
I’m still keen on a Clio as well. Too many cars that I want to sample and not enough cash. smile
