Given the 141K miles the car's done the mats were looking rather raggy, so I took advantage of the 20% eBay sale and got a set of OEM GTI ones for £52 delivered.

Booked in for a new rear wheel bearing as it's a little noisy.

Then it'll be up for sale to make way for a MK7 GTI biggrin

Probably worth checking the rear tyres before you go for wheel bearing.

The Mk5 GTi has a habit of eating the inside edge of the rear tyres in a sawtooth pattern and this makes them drone.

Ask me how I know! smile

If they look ok on the outer edge of the tread they can still be completely shagged on the inside edge.

Have a look, you've nothing to lose.

Cheers Blaster, just had a quick look and the wear is fine across the rear tyres so looks like it is a bearing. Which is a relief because the rear tyres were replaced last month (Bridgestones too!)

Glad to hear it! It takes several thousand miles for the inners to wear so no panic smile

Just listed it on PH classifieds, £2795 I think is reasonable given that I've spent over a grand on it since buying it.

I'll not link the advert as that goes against the rules but me shamelessly posting this doesn't. biggrin

Well done mate, make sure you put up some photo's on this thread when you get it.

My Audi lease is done Nov 19 and the Mk8 GTi comes out in June/July 19. Reading this weeks Autocar I think that may just be the next car for me. I miss my GTi.
