One finds oneself with insufficient carriages in the household.

Incoming would be better received by Mrs H if 4 seat, big and comfy.

I'm tempted by an Amazon or a P6.

But what about a Gilbern?

Jag XJ would get my vote. But from left field a Humber Imperial.

Very few about! but yes, I see the attraction.

I've had 2 P6's in the past and a S1 XJ6.

Scimitar SE4 I rather like too.

There's a very nice sounding one in the Citroen club mag this month for £13k. I can send you details...

I happen to know where the very best mk1 Triumph 2.5 pi saloon in the world resides (in my Dads garage) and it may be for sale for the right price. Depends what your budget is?

Depends.

Will the car be kept in a nice warm garage and only used in sunny weather?

If so, I've always fancied a P6… very tempted by a Scimitar as well (although I'm not sure I could live with the 'dated' interior). Triumph 2000/2.5 are also good choices.

If the car is to be driven in all weathers, then an Amazon is the logical choice (freely admit to being biased as I love mine). Great heater & demister for the winter, handle very well, pretty nippy and spares back up is good.

Got to be a Gilburn Invader/Genie, finding one might be a challenge though. Two on C&C, opposite ends of the spectrum but surely you could have the £2.2k one running and MOT'd by the end of the month wink

Another thumbup for the amazon, robust, style, easy keep up with modern traffic, mechanical and body spare parts at very moderate prices. I am lucky enough to own a 1968 model, surprise surprise.

P6B, manual S if you can find a good one. In Avocado green or Paprika orange with a Mango interior and all the kit! Still a relative bargain compared to many old barges.

Did Rover's suffer from cheaper steel used post 74 like Triumph's did?

A P6 and a Triumph saloon. These vehicles have to be preserved.

I've not heard or read anything confirming that, but at least P6 panels are fairly easy to replace if the dreaded tin worm rears its head (there are seventeen in all, including the detachable roof section). My three were all pre-'74 and luckily were very solid.

Or, Lunar Grey with Black interior

Also, have you considered an SD1? Easier to work on than a P6 and loads more boot space

I was hoping you'd pop in, youre liking the Amazon?

It'll be cheap and scruffy, live outside, used most days.

Thanks for interest, haven't had too much chance of driving the old girl tbh. Attended to a few minor issues and today it is having a towbar attached. When I have driven it always starts easily once the carbs are primed, loads of space and very comfortible, cruise all day at 70mph with the overdrive in its lovely. No regrets buying.
