Enjoying the build. What's the POR15 like to apply and, if you've used it before, does it last?

The wheels look nice.
Thanks

They're off a discovery 4 and ape the genuine VW Sportline ones so look OEM+ without being replicas.

It's very thick so you get through a lot of it and it's a bit pricey. The tin I had was for another project and had extra pigment in so was a bit of an extravagance for something you won't see. It sets very hard and seems to chemically bond with the metal. I imagine even blasting it off would be a PITA.

T5 day van high-five!

Looks like lots of great work going on with yours.
Looks good. I would have preferred a blue or black van but they seem to hold their value even better than the white and silver ones.

Any plans to put windows in?

Oof, very envious. I want a van to tow the racecar and use on race weekends for both tools and sitting - and boy I'd love one of these VW's.. way outside my van price range though. You're doing a great job - keep it up smile

Cheers, it's tricky to tell in that photo being black but it's got limo-tint side windows fitted to halfway back with a slider opening on the offside.

Was originally a genuine Sportline T30 panel van on a 56 plate.

I've changed cambelts previously and wondered why I bothered as they're usually in perfect nick.

That one was well and truly passed it.

I wonder if that stuff would be good for a set of steelies I etch primed and rattle-canned last year and which are now oxidising again, grr

Good job so far, keep it up! smile Have you done the front springs yet, it's apparently a PITA to do them?

I should have put my conversion thread in here.

Next job! The rears were a bit of a pain as well tbh.

Took the old water pump back to VW and got a £23 exchange refund which was nice.

In more important news I picked these up today. Quite excited.

Looks good, you're certainly doing the job properly. I've got my eye on a new California but as a one car family it's a bit on the big side sadly.

I rented one for the weekend, it's a viable alternative to actually owning one. I would love one though so I'm keenly watching these conversion threads.

They are very nice. Unfortunately my pockets don't go quite that deep.

This is why I bang the drum for the big Japanese import MPVs. Maybe not quite as big as a SWB Transporter or Caravelle - but they're cars, not commercials, so drive a lot better - and, best of all, you get a whole load more for your cash.

We bought our 58k mile old Alphard, added LPG and a rear kitchen camping conversion (with gas, water and split-charge system with mains hook-up) for under £12k.
