Thanks people smile The colour is stunning in the day, and at night under streetlighting it goes very dark and metallic looking! I'm in love.

Lovely. Lovely color. I really really want one just to say Ive experienced that V8.

Dont think theres any reason to justify your purchase as you have Jason, just enjoy the car smile
Kind of you to say so Sir! It seems I often have to unfortunately, a lot of people just dont "get" car guys.

Very nice, and great colour! Been in one of these and although they owner didn't plant it, it sounded wonderful... and my missus loved the interior.

Mind you, if there's one thing I wish I'd done in hindsight in my life, it was to get on the property market as soon as I could!
It's a nice mix of BMW 3 Series comfort and luxury, with growling V8 performance. I don't think I'll ever get near its full potential, which may prove a tad frustrating in comparison with the Toyota, but so far it's the happiest I've been with a car purchase.

You're probably right! But I've never done sensible, and nothing ventured nothing gained etc.

Considering they're holding their value very well
There is a way to go yet before they bottom out and the residuals, if you buy an AUC with a view to short term ownership, are average at best. That was my experience anyway.
My mate bought a private sale example in 2013 for 37k. Lost 3 grand on it in two years. These and C63s are pretty solid.

I did a very sad thing.

I bought a brochure for the car off of ebay, and an EVO issue with it on the cover at the time. This is a new low for me. But I'm happy!

Nothing sad about that buddy smile I've done that with all the decent motors I've had, Evo/autocar mag has covered the E92 M3 loads too.

I always have to have the sales brochure too. thumbup

It's all part of being a car enthusiast I reckon.

Best E92 colour? I think so. Especially with the carbon splitters. Buying it as a manual is as authentic an experience as BMW M can offer, well done.

I'm more or less on the way from Nürburg to Como in Karlsruhe; feel free to drop me a line and I can let you in on a few routes worth taking.

You say that, but I'd say the DCT is a better choice.

I was going to buy a manual but the a DCT came up at a price I couldn't refuse, now I wouldn't recommend the manual.

It's so subjective, though. I'm not saying the DCT is a bad box; far from it. I've driven every current M car except the M2 and they all had DCT. It's a great transmission. But I'd never want a self-shifter in my E46, even if the SMG was the better DCT instead.

The DCT is a great box but no matter how good modern auto/paddle boxes are I struggle to get on with them. Plus I get a lot of satisfaction out of the manual!

I certainly ageee, but I'm biased!

Oh yes, do let me know! I'll be doing Nurburg > Munich > Como. A route I've done a couple of times via stelvio pass, but never deviated and would love to know of some cool roads around the way.

I lost 5K in 14 months quite recently. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree where the market is in 2017.

After owning one I'd have to agree. The DCT really suits the engine. The manual isn't that nice to use IME, notchy and quite frustrating when really pressing on. First thing i would do is swap the gearknob for sonething with more weight and change the oil.

Great purchase mate. The E92 M3 is the pick of the M division for me.

Also, Lake Como is a lovely spot. Very tight roads at certain points but would be an incredible journey.

I'm not ready to Adult yet.
Neither am i, hence why we have more cars than rooms in our flat hehe

M3 looks lovely, manual/V8 is definitely a combo that needs sampling while you still can!

Many thanks all! It's the only car I've had where pretty much everyone likes it, and a lot of that is down to its unusual colour i expect!

Get the 4 pipe mod done to the exhaust. Cheap and makes it sound like it should have from the factory. You wont regret it.

Miss mine now.

I did the same route via stelvio a year or so back. I stayed in the hotel at the bottom of stelvio. It was such a cool place.

Top choice! These are worth every penny just for the engine IMO, not to mention the outrageous noise - the sort of sound you'd expect something mid-engined and three foot high to make, not a German saloon!!

Lovely e92! A friend had a white one with a similar spec and what an engine. We went rather faster than you should do in it on public roads and the noise and feel was just addictive.

Dont worry about houses, i left it rather late compared to most (27) and have no regrets. Right house popped up at the right time, they arent going anywhere either!

Thanks all! It's a real struggle not to take it to work every day. I think I may tomorrow as a treat! Will be driving it down to Bournemouth for the weekend too.

I believe it's already been done. It's much louder than standard and the system looks standard underneith, so must have had the back box done.
