At Goodwood motor circuit yesterday. Noise reading (static) was 100db at 4,800rpm. The track day was 105db. I received one warning for noise on the drive-by test along the start/finish straight in the first session. Had to drop the change-up point from 7,000rpm to 6,000rpm to comply. Grrr!

Many tracks wouldn’t even let you start with that static reading. You might have to get something done before next season.
On the other hand, you could just do events with higher noise limits, and glory in the magnificence of it. smile

After almost 2 years and over 5,000 grin-inducing miles I've decided to sell the 3-Eleven (and Jaguar XKR-S GT) to Lucas at The Octane Collection / Millennium Heroes. Hopefully the Lotus will find a good home.

You can see the 3-Eleven advertised here:

Gorgeous and a shame to see it going. What are you replacing it with?

I wish I had the budget for such a thing smile

I know, it was a bit gut-wrenching to see it go but I have to downsize to one car due to a house move. I've just posted it's successor - a Ferrari 599 GTB. Very different!

Thread resurrection - Ben not sure if you will see this (you don't accept DMs) but I wanted to ask a question about the KomoTec 475 upgrade that you had planned - as someone who likes a trackday, what did Hangar111 have to say about static/driveby with the upgrade? - did you expect this to give you any problems? I'd be really grateful for any insight you can give.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris, three of my petrolhead friends have a Lotus 3-Eleven! One of them has recently upgraded to the full Hangar 111 / Komo-tec 475 package. I will ask him for all his feedback. It's best to DM me on my Instagram account @baronbennyt.

Morning All,

I bought Ben’s green/yellow 3-Eleven back in January and so far I’m loving the car. As ridiculous as it sounds, the one thing it lacks is punch above 110mph where it struggles to fight the air ! I’m thinking if the komotec 475 or 490 kit and I see one or two of you now have experience of this kit so I have some questions;

1. Have your cars been reliable so far ?
2. Does the upgrade help push the car from 100-150ish at a decent enough rate to warrant the 5k outlay or do you still find it struggles to get to 150 on long straights ?
3. Whilst fun and extremely sticky, it’s a spikey little car and the hardest car to learn that I’ve ever owned. I’ve already realised you need to respect the throttle on corner exits, does the Komotec make it too spikey/hard to drive ?

Thanks in advance.

In my experience of having the ex460 kit in my Exige, the power delivery is a lot smoother with the power kit than it was before. From what I hear, the 3-eleven is more challenging to drive than an Exige, but more fun because of it.

Thanks. Have you had any reliability issues with your Exige as a result of the upgrade (clutch/gearbox) ? And can I ask how long you have run the upgrade for and approx how many track days you’ve done with it (if you don’t mind me asking).

I’ve done over 20k miles since the conversion, only about 6 trackdays I think. My clutch went on the first day after the tuning which was unlucky, but I believe the 3-eleven has the upgraded clutch anyway, so that shouldn’t be a problem. My gearbox had a rebuild when I fitted the LSD and it had some wear, but nothing major. That was before I had a gearbox cooler fitted, which helps a lot.

Ok thanks. Yep I believe mine has the Evora 400 clutch and a gearbox oil cooler so hopefully it can handle the extra power/torque. Not sure about the latest 490bhp conversion Komotec are offering though, that might be taking it a bit too far......

Finally discovered that my bookmarks are working again, so here's a thread resurection: did you get the upgrade installed? smile
