If you havent already, start reading Car Craft and Hot Rod, they've done (and covered) many great things with this platform and engine combo smile
When i lived in the states a Crown Vic was always "I'll get one after this other car" too many choices for cheap over there, gotta love the Police Pack options on them

Very jealous OP on the basis of I love crown vics and I want to emigrate to the US!

On a trip to Florida in 08 I think I had a light blue marquis about as close as I'll get to a proper crown vic.

I keep my eye on eBay for ex police ones that have been shipped to the uk

I rented a white one for a 2 week family holiday in the States

It was everything I dreamed it would be and had the added advantage that everybody pulled out of my way to let me get past - I wonder why!!

It handled appallingly, was a bit of a slug off the line and even in the US car parks were a bit of a hassle but it made my holiday

Nice motor OP - thanks for posting

I owned a Mercury Grand Marquis here in the UK. Really regretted selling it but I sold it on for a lot more than I paid for it.

Free motoring even at 12mpg in London traffic.

Black with tinted windows.

Didn't handle too badly, apparently had the police upgrades, bigger sway bars etc.

No driver aids so proper driving and once I was used to its size, plenty fast enough.

Loved it but it went to help pay for my current S550 Mustang GT.

My cousin is a Canadian Cop and used to drive these. She ran a red light chasing someone and got t-boned by a truck.

Walked away with a couple of bruises from the 'B' pillar.....

My late grandfather had a couple of these back in Osoyoos before he passed in 2004. I got to drive the last one in 2001. I remember being admonished by him for driving it at 60 in a 50 limit...........................

Huge things.

Driven many many miles in these, used to be the default choice, ie no choice, when thrown the keys by the local fleet managers when working somewhere over there for a spell, either that or a black Suburban, occasionally an Expedition. But the Crown Vic was my favourite. Either you get them or you don't.

One holiday I rented a CV rather than the other half's preference of an SUV, and in white too. Never said anything, though realised she'd finally twigged with "Just realised why everyone is getting out of my way and nobody trying to overtake."

So after two months away, and having forgotten to disconnect the battery, the interceptor was dead. It fired up after a quick jump though and I took off the inch of crap that had gathered on it as it had been under a tree since I'd been gone.

After it was cleaned (relative term) I decided I didn't want the gold stripe anymore, so I reckoned a budget strip down and respray was the way to go. I'm a complete amateur at this stuff so the idea wasn't to get a perfect panel, but to replace the gold stripe with a white one that looked slightly better. Every other panel on the car has a crack or paint problem so I wasn't too worried about butchering it.

I bought some sanding blocks from Lowes, working from 220 all the way up to 1500 wet and dry, and then used 3 coats of white primer (wet and drying in between coats). It's not perfect, and it could probably do with some actual paint on it and some lacquer. But it's white enough for me and it'll do for now! laugh

Update time.

I briefly considered selling the car as it won't be used much over the next 10 months due to my temporary return to the UK. Then I changed my mind. Partly because it's thrown a new engine code (P0420) and I'm pretty sure there's an exhaust leak. I didn't want to sell it on with the problem, and didn't want to have to sell it too cheap because of it. Plus I figure, when I'm back maybe I can spend far too much money on this thing and treat it to a full exhaust system.

Since then, I've generally tidied up the car and fixed bits and bobs on the interior and under the bonnet. Got bored one weekend and coloured in the tyre letters. Got bored another weekend and bought new seats off Craigslist (didn't get murdered) for $75. Out came the old ones and out came the divider which was fking heavy. The new seats came from a Marauder but the drivers side was an electric seat with an electric seat subframe. Cue extra swearing and an extra couple of hours cannibalising the old seat to get from this...

To this...

I also found this under the drivers seat...

Unless I decide to strip the exhaust off before heading back to the UK next month there probably won't be any more updates on this. Thanks for reading this far.

Those seats look just like what I had in my Mercury Grand Marquis but minus the folding centre bench.

Is that a hollow point you found?

Yep sorry, think they did come from a GMarquis not a Marauder actually.

They also had a front lap belt and buckle so when the armrests are up you can squeeze in a 6th passenger but I cut them out.

Yep that's a hollow point. To protect and serve ha

It's a truck chassis with a car body on it.

In fact... some people swap truck bodies onto it
