Cheers Lee,
EBC 330 MM brake kit ordered today !
Looking at a set of Nankang AR1’s, will get them sorted this week.
Is this for track use? I’ve found i can set off the hazard flash with newish bluestuff pads and Mich PS3s, so i’m curious about the big brake kits

Yeah, did one last year at Anglesey and the standard brakes just about coped but felt like the weak link, and I gave some brand new PS5's a proper chewing. A set of YellowStuff pads were also sacrificed and the eBay special disks it had on, so another £100 set of Mintex pads and grooved eBay stuff was ordered but not spending £320 on a track day to spend it all nursing the brakes.

Then, you think need a bit more grip, so track tyres, and that extra grip means the oil is pinned to the left or right and doesnt get sucked up, so sump baffles are ready to go in.

I wince at what gets spent but after a while its sunk cost and you forget, and in the scheme of things, its not much compared to leasing some diesel VAG.

Will get it, fit it all and report back on road and then whatever track day we do. Car is staying, was looking at Jag XJs as a daily but my sums werent adding up between buying another car and doing the rest of this to the ST so chose to do one properly rather than two badly.

Hopefully the brakes arrive this week and I can get them on next weekend. Imagine the braking power will be similar, maybe better feel but its more down to the ability to dissipate heat.

After that, might look at some better, lighter seats then possibly what else I can do suspension wise, some decent coilovers, braces whatever.

And who knows, might get another engine, build it, some cams and a bigger turbo but thats a long term thought.

Maybe get some tuition as well.

Its funny, even now, you wonder why other drivers blast up straights then go all nervous in corners, had some X5 M thing blast past leaving the motorway and cut in on me, just went round like was stood still on the S bends

Makes total sense - if i was trackdaying, id do the same (BBK+semis). I look forward to the report.

Yeah. i had a recent similar experience with an A45 AMG. it reminded me that it’s the twisties where these things shine. I spend too much of my use doing a straight line overtake, where really that’s not its main party trick, and i forget how rapid it is.

(re: your long term plans; keep thinking out loud, i’ll be interested to hear. i keep looking at the fabia rally2 and fiesta r5 builds and thinking what i really need to do is some mental 4wd rep)

Made the mistake of ordering from a company called SiCo, no shipping details sent, doesnt answer messages or the phone. Its still early days but its rarer to order something and not get a notification of how and when it will arrive.

They have been around for a while but seem to have got a bit lax, paid with PayPal so should be ok, just annoying as want to get them fitted.

Fingers crossed they'll come good eventually...

I think we may be a bit spoiled these days (I know I am) by the majority of online retailers being so on the ball with instant order notifications and extremely rapid dispatch / detailed tracking that when a supplier doesn't provide that it just feels off.

Interestingly, over the last few years, I've found it has almost exclusively been automotive sector retailers that have been the ones to "go dark" after order, even though all have eventually delivered what was ordered. Odd.

SiCo developments?

I used them once for an inlet spacer and didn't have an issue - looking back I got no confirmation email either. They don't have the best reputation though.

I may be being a bit previous but didnt do enough checks before ordering, had seen the name about for ages and looked at Companies House, been around ten years.

But they dont have a great reputation and am now fairly sure I had seen posts about them, may well be fine but doesnt seem to be good at answering and it is early days, its not really being spoilt but I know what you mean, thats the standard expected, no "Allow 28 days for delivery", things have moved on and I have sent them £1507.90 of my money so expecting a little service, its not £30 for a short shifter where you can just put it to the back of your mind.

Ouch! Yes that's the sort of sum where some sort of confirmation would be nice for peace of mind!

When I had my ST180 2 years ago SiCo had a pretty awful reputation on the Facebook Fiesta ST Owners Page. Some are lucky and manage to get their orders but the majority had little to no success in dealing with them, no communication, failed orders and so on.

It's a shame as they have so much to offer on their site and often developed parts which others didn't offer but it just wasn't worth the risk using them.

Fingers crossed your order arrives.

Got a refund, made it clear that they either provide the shipping confirmation, a refund or have me haunt them forever, I mean, come on which would you choose evil

Have ordered from EBC direct, bit annoying as Olivia from EBC messaged to say its going to be a month so have suggested that their website was not exactly truthful about this prior to ordering and that they should perhaps sweeten the deal seeing as I have a track day due, well I would have booked one if the car was ready.

Took a £383 hit as prices have gone up, but, its only money silly

Will hopefully do the sump this weekend perhaps, though the wife has furniture moving plans so will see, will get some tyres ordered and look at TD dates, preferably Oulton Park as its nearest but maybe Anglessey, got relatives local we stay with.

Plan is to book my dad and two of my sons on as well, my dad did a few track days on bikes so if he is up for it he can drive, or passenger, my eldest did the last one with me and is a proper petrolhead, my middle lad isnt a massive car fan, his thing is music but hopefully he will come and have a drive, only passed his test last year. My youngest lives in Frankfurt so not really practical, and his license is auto only. Hopefully we can get it all organised and getting three generations of J4CKOs ragging my poor Fiesta to death.

Decision now is which TD tyre, or just use the PS5s that are on it ? Got a spare set of wheels so will get them mounted on them, bit scabby but will do for track wheels.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the brakes in time but at least you will get them eventually! Depending on the mileage you'll do on the day, I'd possibly want to put TD tyres on, I did a day on road tyres and they felt absolutely fine tbh, the PS5s should be quite nice too.

Similar experience here when ordering online from SiCo Developments. Zero response from them, even when I asked for a refund. It was only when I instigated a credit card charge back that anything happened. With hindsight I should have checked their Google feedback prior to ordering: it's pretty terrible.

Glad you got things sorted.

Cheers, alls well that ends well etc.

EBC have much better customer service, the very helpful Olivia is sending a set of Bluestuff pads over gratis as an apology for the delay, now that’s how to do it !
