Thanks for all the kind feedback.

It cost a lot more than a wrap.
It’s liquid PPF with factory paint over the top. So it can be cleaned and polished like any other car but the whole lot can be ‘peeled’ off.
Twice to three times the cost frown
And yes under the frunk and rear deck is still white sadly… the interior plastics were also body coloured so I had a local firm wrap them with a carbon film…. Along with the roll over hoops.
I had the Porsche script at the rear taken off and ‘Spyder’ centralised…
And then then the other day I had the DRLs tinted yellow.

Regardless of brand or perceived taste, I love a bit of personalisation…
I feel like this car will be with me for a long while…

Wow, what a step up from the S2000! Loved the engine on mine but didn’t quite gel with the rest of the car so only has it 6 months or so.

Good on you for having the balls to go ahead and live the dream! As you say, if things change you can always sell and you’ll have lost very minimal money, if anything.

Enjoy the car - it’ll be even better in the summer!

I prefer the white one, but I lack imagination. I’m also a bit thick, oh it’s the same car.

Anyone questioning its Porsche credentials, needs to have a serious word with themselves. For starters, just looks at it, bloody gorgeous, great sounding engine and a very usable car. Future classic.

Enjoy it OP.

This looks utterly fantastic with the colour change! It looked great before, but that looks blinding in green. I really have a soft spot for dark metallic greens at the moment. Peelable paint has come a long way since Plastidip!

I have never really followed the development of the boxster, I always liked the 986 and dabbled with a 987 but kind of stopped there. These look fantastic and I am sure they are just as capable as they look. Centres in the seats compliment the bodywork really well also.

All the best with the car, I will follow closely.

OP - congrats. I love mine too, probably more than various other Porsches I’ve had. Hard to rationalise it but just feels special, is quick enough, a good size and a great noise.

Not done mods as extensive as you - bought mine because I loved the Agate - but similar interior idea… 911R seat centres and custom knob

Great cars imho and whilst not a GT product it was pretty impressive around Goodwood. I thought I’d buy a GT4 but the shape of the Spyder and the roof down experience just adds so much…

So DRL alteration done...

Went out for maybe my 5th drive in it over the weekend, not the best weather (top up frown ) not the best conditions with localised flooding, but I can't just let it sit there.....
It's just superb.

Like the car and how you have personalised it. I also came from an S2000 and my 981 is the follow up. I don't think you'll regret it.

Good to know!
I can’t quite put into words how chuffed I am.
45 years of car spotting and toy collecting and then owning stuff that hardly ever reached £10k …. Then the S2000 and now this….
I’m just wishing my life away for a warm dry sunny day….

Not sure if it has been asked before but how does the roof work on these?

Is it any good? Might be bad memory but wasn't the original spyder roof a shower cap or something like that.

987 had a fully manual affair that was decidedly more faffy to erect/take down... it added character.

981 and 718 added some mechanisation and solidity, but it still takes around 40secs -1 min.
Manually detach the buttresses.
Press a button to release, lift rear deck.
manually fold down he roof and push rear deck back down.

the hassle is worth it for the style, but I would say that...

987 also has some piece of roof which is detached from the vehicle. So this is loose when the roof is down.

The beauty of the 987 (IMHO) was you could detach the back part of the roof and still keep the "sun cap" part for euro-tours-experiencing the sounds and sensations of open top motoring without getting sunburnt.

Pics from a little blast over the weekend.
Really continuing to impress on every level. As yet the long gearing has not affected me, despite it being on my mind....
