Hi there

What did you use to get the sticky off the floors? Need to do this on my 111s as well.

Thanks

Jon
Hi Jon,

Basically used a combination of things; hair dryer, a paint scraper and ‘sticky stuff’ remover. Takes a bit of time, but does the trick. Going to do the sill pads this weekend and then replace all the sticky pads with Velcro strips

So, bit more work on the car today. Weather is still pants, so trying to get the boring jobs out of the way and then I can enjoy driving the thing when the good weather comes.

Floors are now sorted 😁 I also managed to find an original wheel in as new condition on eBay, so swapped the old one out and put a new horn badge on to freshen up.
The heater control panel stickers go yellow over time, so I swapped that out for a new one. Also got some new stickers for the roof cant rails, all courtesy of divine handcraft.

One of the new wheel in place

Another common issue on these cars is for the back up batteries in the alarm siren to leak and destroy the PCB. I removed them to check and thankfully all was good. Battery pack sorted and all re-fitted

Couple more little jobs done this weekend.

Existing cant rail brackets had seen better days, so swapped those out

Next up was the crusty, rear window seal

Much better

New mats all fitted, using the anodised fixings, rather than Velcro

Also, I noticed the clutch pedal was wobbling when driving. It is a common issue that the rivets wear out. I drilled these out and fixed solid with a couple of M4 bolts

Couple more bits done on the car. The dash had a couple of chips and a scratch. I managed to get a paint from Chipex to touch up. Result not as perfect as I’d like, but better than it was

Also, took the seats out. It was filthy, as you can see and I had a few lucky finds 😁; some cds, disposable contact lenses and a fat willys sticker!!

Next job is to give the tub a bit of a polish and get all the sticky residue removed from the sill pads. I’m going to drop the seats off to Allon white, along with the sill pads and roof to get them retrimmed. Thinking of going with something like this

Update time

Seat frames have been freshly powder coated

I’ve decided to leave the seats for now, as the originals aren’t actually that bad, especially after a good clean

Seats are now back in as well as the sill pads

Also changed the standard filter over to a pipercross
