F1 Eagles were always the go to back in the day on the 306 owners forum.
Not sure if still around but CG Cars in Leicester used sell a supercharger conversion kit to take them to nearer 400bhp. I took a ride in the prototype years ago - nuts.
Evening, still going but working on a much wider audience these days. Mainly any make and mundane model these dayNot sure if still around but CG Cars in Leicester used sell a supercharger conversion kit to take them to nearer 400bhp. I took a ride in the prototype years ago - nuts.
This would have been the mule, still have it.

Following with interest, you've picked that up at a decent price to allow you to put it back as it should be.
Great colour and base car to start with!
Thanks!Great colour and base car to start with!
Yeh I'm thinking..
Car £2200
Front brake pads £55
New tyres £200
Exhaust cat £130
Exterior trim £100
Stock front springs £110
New thermostat and sensor £24
£2819
Probably get £3k to £3.5k for it in a year or two if I sort out all the niggles. Cheap motoring.
Spend the extra 30 quid on these Mintex pads if you can't stretch to DS2500s. https://spoox.co.uk/brake-pads/377-peugeot-306-gti...
This isn't me being a snob. I've genuinely had better braking performance from OEM pads than Greenstuff. They were borderline dangerous in the way that braking just disappeared.

Perhaps Mintex are ideal then, thanks.

That has to be the best colour for these. I used to have a 306 DTurbo and always loved its performance sibling.
I couldn't live with the way those front wheels set far too far up in to the arch though so good to see you're fixing the suspension.
Yeh hopefully the extra ride height will inspire more confidence on bumpy roads. It's way too low atm.I couldn't live with the way those front wheels set far too far up in to the arch though so good to see you're fixing the suspension.

There's nothing particularly special about the GTi6's brake setup that would cause issues not faced by other cars. I've done thousands of hard road and track miles on DS2500s, and nothing comes close for replicating OEM refinement and cold grip.

That's really interesting, but it's a 13yo post that looks like it was due to a manufacturing defect that Ferodo didn't want to admit to. The poster even mentions that he's previously used several sets of the same pads without issue...

Even as standard, I think the Gti-6 brakes were excellent so I think you'll be good either way. We had ours at the same time as an Evo 8 with uprated pads/discs/lines and I always felt the Pug braked better. Some engine bay/bodyshell pics.
Gave it a hoover earlier, it was full of leaves, nuts, bolts and twigs!
Generally it looks reasonably clean, can't spot any rust anywhere other than the odd spot of corrosion, to be expected for a 26 year old car.
This annoys me:

Great cars, but the slowest in their class..
!
Out of interest, what else was in their class?!
I love old pugs, never had a 306, had a few 106’s in the past but by some accounts the 306 was even better.
Car looks pretty clean and tidy! I ran Greenstuff pads on my 106 and I didn’t die! Just for some balance. Yes better options are available but for the price atleaat on my experience I couldn’t moan.
Please keep us updated how you get on op.
I’ve had 2 of these. The best being a blaze yellow phase 2.5 I loved that car.
Absolutely brilliant cars. They’re large enough to be a decent daily driver but small enough to throw about a bit.
They’re from the era that I think is the sweet spot. Enough technology to help the experience but not so much to overwhelm everything. They’re a proper analogue car.
The engine intake noise is fantastic. The engines feel strong and 167bhp feels powerful enough. That 6speed box is nice to use.
I’d have another in a heartbeat … this is likely to lead to me searching the internet all night for cars for sale.

That looks lovely OP.
I always thought they looked great and a new work colleague who "inherited" one as his company car loved it too, until the weather got hot - the one he was given didn't have A/C!
Not too long afterwards he got to choose a company car and went for a 2000 Seat Leon Cupra with C/C, but I think he preferred driving the 306.

I think most of them do that don't they. I remember one of ours was like that, managed to get a replacement but much like gear knobs they're probably unobtanium now or very expensive at least. I think we replaced the gearknob with an OEM for about £40 when we had ours! Not even a light up Momo one This annoys me:

Yeah I'm not really sure what you're comparing them to there, Fiesta RS Turbo? Sunny GTi-R? Golf VR6 maybe? It's certainly not stone-cold last in terms of 0-60 and round a track I'd say the 306 has most of them beat.
The ad was a joke, I believe it was referring to the GTI-6 being the slowest car in the class of 6-speed performance cars.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
