the rear trailing arm bush part number 4 can be directly replaced with the M3 part
Part number 3 is a rubber bush on non-M3s and a ball joint on M3s. IIRC it's the same ball joint as part number 2. It's also a direct swap.
Small things, but if you're in there anyway doing it it's a few pounds extra

Great - thanks. I'll take a look before placing my order with Meyle. the rear trailing arm bush part number 4 can be directly replaced with the M3 part

I'm also looking for a front splitter if anyone has any suggestion?

Although my E46 M3 was very nice, with some lovely bits such as the carbon airbox, I just never jelled with it. I'm no next level driver anyway but with the limits of performance being so high I just never felt able to enjoy it. Whereas my E30 was just so much fun and the performance far more accessible, if that makes any sense? It was the same with the E92 M3 (as the E46) where any mistake would mean paying a far higher price, as you'd be going that much faster. The Compact though, just feels way more like the E30 M3 and is just a lot of fun at much lower speeds. I enjoy driving it just for the sake of driving.

It’s interesting Mark as you’re not the first person on here who has owned an E30 M3 I’ve heard say something similar about the Compact. I’ve had all the gen’s from the E21 up to the E46 and I’d agree it’s a great little car ( especially for what I bought mine at a decade ago ) - mine reminds me of my E21 323i/E30 Sport much more than my E46 330i - hard to explain. You’ve had a few 325tis now haven’t you?Mark

I’d recommend genuine BMW for those bushes. Given how long genuine BMW ones last it’s worth the money. I'm also looking for a front splitter if anyone has any suggestion?

I also like that most people assume it's a 1.9 shopping car but if you know, then you know.

This is my 3rd or 4th I think? It's the only Sport though and also the only non sunroof, which I much prefer. As you say, there's just something about them that's missing from the other models. My E46 M3 was definitely a fast car and thanks to the carbon air box it sounded great (not as good as my s14 though!) but I just prefer the Compact. If I win the lottery I'd have one with an s14/2.5 and lose any interior etc I didn't need.

I only had one, but looking fairly innocuous (even as a Sport model) was one of the things I liked about it. My current E90 330i goes under the radar too. I also like that most people assume it's a 1.9 shopping car but if you know, then you know.
My lottery win Compact would have an S54 engine in it though!
MOT yesterday and although it failed, it was only a couple of bulbs, a couple of drop links and rear brake pipes so could have been worse. Weirdly the brake pipes were an advisory 2 years ago, then not mentioned last year, only to reappear as a failure yesterday. Never mind, I'll just have to suck it up and replace them. I swapped the stock steering wheel and airbag back on for the test but forgot to trim the sunstrip! Unfortunately the wipers just hit it so I'll need to trim it accordingly.
Whilst up on the ramp I was able to have a thorough nose around the underside and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of rust. I am guessing that a lack of sunroof helps as there are no drains filling the sills or whatever. Reassuring either way.

Not too bad then! At least once the brake pipes are done you won't need to worry about it again. Just important that they're done properly.
One random rust trap I remember from mine is under the spare wheel, if you drop the wheel and then take a look above there should be a rubber gasket, I found mine was looking a bit ropey underneath that.

As we had a couple of hours dry and bright weather yesterday, I put the Compact up on stands and checked all the usual rust traps. I also whipped out the arch liners and the spare wheel but other than being a little grubby all was well. (no pun intended )What I have noticed though, is the amount of moss growing at certain points around the car, as if it has stood unused for a few months. It's not a huge amount but now I know it's there it's just annoying. I've not really got the patience for detailing but, when we finally get another dry spell, a thorough wash and clay is on the cards.
I've finally got rid of the awful aftermarket xenon type headlight bulbs. Apart from them having some sort of weird flash for the first few seconds when switched on, the strength of light they gave off was abysmal. As a result I've gone back to OE and they perform way better. I also no longer have blown bulb warning lights on the dash!
Fitted 6 x new coil packs today. Have also got an induction kit to go on. I know it won’t give any more power but a bit of induction noise is always welcome.
All the dash warning lights are out and the naff aftermarket LED bulbs have been replaced with OE. They look so much better for it.
The Chinesium kidney grills need replacement next and ideally with some original that have been painted satin black. I’m going to replace the sun strip as well but might go body colour this time.

Unfortunately I am going to be having surgery a few weeks from now and won't be able to drive a manual car for quite some time. As a result I will have to sell the 325ti. Gutted. Without wishing to sound like I'm whining I thought I'd turned a corner healthwise.

That's a bummer Mark. Moderator edit: no advertising
I just hope the surgery and your recovery go well.
