How are you finding the long gearing?
Not the most pleasant car to face start/stop traffic, other than that, cannot say I find it too long a gearing. To be honest, I think 6th gear should be taller!

When on the move, I quite like the long 1st / 2nd gear, seems to suit my driving style!

1,2 and 3 seem very long, while 4,5 and 6 seem very short. 2 and 3 seem like what would be 3 and 4 in most cars.

I agree it is fine once moving, but the car struggles at anything lower than 15Mph in 2nd (for example when slowing to approach a roundabout, junction, etc).

Excellent!

Mine gives as good as 36mpg on a long motorway run, but PDK helps a bit.
I bet it helps a lot, 6th gear on the manual puts you above 3000rpm @ 75 MPH, how's the PDK 7th gear?
Way higher - 35mph/1,000rpm, or nearly so.

Just a quick update: it just crossed the 130.000-mile mark.

(For context: Bought with 126k 5 week ago)

It’s running great and it really injects fun into the daily 124-mile commute!

I find myself driving a bit faster than I should most of the times, let’s hope no speed tickets arrive in the post!

Love this.

Also makes me feel guilty that I don’t use my 2010 Alfa Brera more, it’s done 144,000 miles but just 2,5000 in nearly 3 years, I just don’t use it and seeing your car getting put through it’s paces makes me realise I must use my Alfa.

Well, as I mentioned at the start the car came with very recent Pirelli P Zero tyres. My plan was to wear them out to then swap for Michelin.

But I could not wait. These Pzero tyres are horrendous in the wet, what a useless tyre for the british climate!!

I would go further and say they are dangerous even!
Only really suitable for a nice dry run, nothing else.

I feel almost stupid to have removed all four tyres with 5mm of thread… but they are a liability. Also, losing the rear in a wet dual carriageway in a modest overtake was not fun byebye

A photo I snapped while fitting a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S:

Thought I would treat it to a wash after the new tyres:

It seems to have fulfilled your objectives in livening up the commute.

Out with the horrible aftermarket floor mats, in with new OEM ones.

Lifts the interior up quite a bit!

Agreed - OEM mats are always the best, freshened up the interior too just having new mats.

Great stuff,

I bought a high mileage 987.2 (2.9) at a similar time to you.

Mines done 90k so its good to see yours going strong.

Just done thd clutch on mine and about to start a machine polish.

Hope you are enjoying it as much as I am! 2.9 is supposed to be the most reliable variant of them all! (port injected 9A1 engine)

Yes, its brilliant, it does do the 2.9 trick of a puff on smoke at start up which freaked me out initially but i've been reassured by many that quite a few 2.9's do this.

Goes brilliantly.

So, my reverse lights are constantly on, seems to be a failed reverse light switch. This sensor is easily accessible (don’t even need to lift the car) to replace.

A visit to Design911 to get a new one (£25) and duct tape to stop everyone from flashing me and we shall be good tomorrow after replacing it. Fingers crossed it’s this😂
