It was all done.

The old belt was in good condition too, with very little damage.
Ignoring the belt, did they pull the sump off?
Yes.

Great cars, we had a 2012 1.6 diesel Titanium (no less) which we bought new and kept for over 150k miles/10 years. It never went wrong, just needed servicing and consumables. The diesel’s power delivery was flat and uninteresting, but it averaged over 50mpg in the time we had it. Very well built but watch the rubbers which have a tendency to fall off the bottom of the doors. They all do it and it just needs some glue to reattached. You’ve done well there, very well.

Really rate that 1.6d engine, it's not as dog rough as a 2.0 four pot diesel, it moves the car well, and as you say easily gets 50mpg+

I have it in my 150k mile Peugeot 208 shed and it's been flawless.

Something that I am not keen on are the tinted rear windows. The outward visibility is reduced significantly at night.

I have fitted a subwoofer into the boot, Ford Sony speakers, tweeters and sound deadening to the front doors.

It sounds pretty good now.

Im currently running around in a 2014 1.6 ti-vct titanium estate..complete with Ford's other excellent idea the powershift!
Luckily, the previous owner had the clutch pack replaced at 81k (now on 113k) so actually it works pretty well, only thing I have done is replace the windscreen as 90% of the heating elements werent working, but so far...touch wood...no issues and no leaks!, perfect for the dogs too and averages 40mpg.

The 1.0 Ecoboost continues to impress me as a use-able engine for the road.

I have fixed the standard water leak into the boot.

Raising the headlamps to a sensible angle, allowing the main beam to project horizontally and the dipped beam to illuminate a more typical distance in front of the car.

A juddering clutch from a standstill was resolved by a few hard starts and some deliberate clutch slipping.

The Alliance tyres are still awful.

A set of Goodyear Vector 4 Season G3 tyres has made a big improvement over the barely worn, gripless and hard-riding, Alliance tyres that were fitted to it when we got it.

It's almost like having a limited slip diff fitted in comparison.

My 2012 1.6 is on 86k miles and as far as I can tell is on it's original belt - is this something I should change as an urgent precaution? If so, what's the cost (is it one of those things that needs a special tool which means it's going to have to go to a Ford dealer)?

That is not as expensive to do as the wet belt on the 1.0 Ecoboost.

Another one here for the Focus Daily. Mine is a 1.0 Ecoboost Titanium X on 83k miles
I was adamant i wanted the X because of the heated seats. They are nice to have. Heated screen is a winner. The radio interface is pure horse ****! Thinking of adding in a android auto screen.

I've never reset my trip meter and I've returned 42.9mpg over 10,000 or so miles. Plenty of 3 mile school runs and a few longer 160mile journeys.

I've had a few issues with mine:

- Rear ABS sensor died which throws out ABS, traction and stop start. Cheap to fix and easy to diagnose once I got the software to do so on my laptop. (Free)

- Lambda sensor fault - bit random this one...comes and goes with a reset of the fault codes. I havent touched it for about 4 months now and the EML hasnt come back. Odd

- Boost/vacuum valve failed. £3 to replace, easy fix. But it meant no boost for a few days and it was gutless!

- Biggest issue is an intermittent coolant leak in the footwell when the heating is on. Sometimes it's piping hot heaters, sometimes its just average. Carpet has been wet in the past but seems to have cured itself now!?

Cracked windscreen - not the cars fault
Slow puncture - not the cars fault

Just doing a disc and pad change all round now. £200 all in.

So far it's been a decent car and swallows kids and dogs without issue. Hard to look elsewhere for the price and the kit level. I'll run it till it becomes uneconomical to do so!

Good stuff.

The Sync 1 radiofotainement is indeed the worst thing about the car. Everything else is pretty good.
