I've got them on my list, I'm being good for a couple of months now once the paint bits are done. Some wallet recovery is needed especially as there's house jobs also on the list and they just aren't as fun to spend the cash on.

Small update. As I've mentioned already the AC needs to be regassed, but before that happens I gave a couple of easy to see parts an inspection just in case there was any obvious issues. The pump from what you can see above looks in good shape, but when you press the AC button inside the car there's no click to say that it's engaging. For now at least I don't know if that's just because there's no gas at all in the system or something else. There is a module I've seen a few people needing to replace on their cars when a pump issue has been diagnosed so for the sake of a £7 part I've got one of those on the way.

Elsewhere the inspection did also show up a problem with the AC radiator, one of those arrived at the start of last week, a none gen part via ebay for a bargain 67 quid, and with some nice weather making an appearance today I took the opportunity of replacing it. A fairly easy 40 minute or so job as it turned out, you can access it just by removing the front grill and there's plenty of space behind the crash bar to get your hand in and undo the required bolts. It's going to be a couple of weeks now before it's in for the regas so for now at least I'm just hoping the AC pump is all good and once the regas is done we'll have some nice cool air in time for summer. Maybe.

New o-rings on the AC pipes also

Can you see where the old one may have leaked from?

New bits always make the old look 10x filthier

By sheer chance of an actual nice day over the weekend I've noticed a small issue with the air vents. The driver side seems to be blowing warm air regardless if temperature adjustment, that was a bit confusing especially when the passenger side was blowing cool air, or at least cool as it gets with no AC still. After doing what I do best I consulted Google.

It turns out that it's a common issue on this era of Civic in general whether it's UK/EU or US models. It's a part under the dashboard called a Blend Door Actuator apparently, it opens and closes the different channels for the warm/cool air. Somewhere along the way these either freeze or break. Unfortunately they also aren't available new anymore, so ebay was consulted yet again and I managed to secure a replacement for a bargain £10.79 including some sort of offer code applied by eBay.

The replacement part

And the part that came off the car. Somehow the arm has broken completely off.

The new relay for the AC has also arrived today, I don't know if the original needed replacing or not but for the sake of 8 quid it seems silly not to change it. The old one took some removing with pliers so it may also have died slightly in the process. Looking inside it, there may well be some corrosion

Finally, a query. Does anybody know what these types of bolt/screw are called? I'm missing a couple from the interior but not sure what to search for.

What length are they?

I remember using a lot of these in my Honda's and they've worked on my BMWs too for all sorts of things:

I did note the length down but can't remember where I've put it. I want to say around 15mm

Another small upgrade done today, well half done, I called into Halfords yesterday for a couple of bits for the wife's daily. While there I did a quick search for some upgraded headlight bulbs and saw they had some of the LED H7 bulbs in stock so grabbed a pair off the shelf. I put the same upgrade in her daily driver a few weeks ago and the difference is almost literally night and day between the oem yellow bulbs and these. Plus the colour of the light just looks more modern. Not bad for 35 quid a pair, and they match the led sidelight bulbs nicely.

As always I didn't manage anything without doing a small stupid, I've managed to drop the drivers side retaining spring somewhere down in the front of the car, I'm buggered if I know where it is so a set of different replacements have been ordered for a mere 4 pounds. Luckily I don't need the car this week so it's an annoyance but not the end of the world.
