Pistonheads has broken me again. For a year or two I've been looking at L322's with longing, having had a couple in the distant past. Then I turned 50 and realised I really don't like my 520D estate.

All went well until a Market Place post was dropped under my nose. Unfortunately, that one went before I could get there. But the monster was unleashed.

So last Friday I pottered off towards Grimsby to collect my ebay action win, the bargain of the day at £2,150. Unfortunately not very well described with several big and expensive problems, I retreated quickly, questioning my mind...

That lasted until today. Agreed the price (well over budget), and picked up 3 hours later from a very nice village in the Yorkshire Wolds. Enthusiast owned, and only 40 of these exist in 2008 model year. 123k, Full LR Dealer/Specialist history Drives extremely well. I am delighted. Enough waffle.. The pictures..

What a lovely lovely car. That red is very nice with the interior combo.

That looks brilliant, never seen one in that colour before! Big fan of the two tone interior as well biggrin The L322 is such a good era of RR.

That looks great in that red; I took a photo of an L405 in a similar hue a year or so ago because it was so rare to see it in a colour at all.

I imagine it'll be a bit more complicated to live with than the BMW but like you, I didn't really find my F11 very interesting so sold it after 18 months. Running a car you love makes any issues become character rather than problems.

2 weeks in and it is behaving most un LandRover like. Nothing has broken, nothing has fallen off, nothing has leaked....

I've done 3 long journeys in it which are sublime. And now ordered a kit to add Car Play to the existing system.

Averages 31.5 mpg over a 200 mile from Bristol to Doncaster today.

One thing I want to look into is how to deal with peeling lacquer. Not dreadful, but one or two panels have a little so i would like to get a plan in mind.

Love the colour. Shame it's not the correct engine but nice to see a red one smile

What's the adapter for car play? I don't know there was anything available that can be added to these for that.

When I was looking into lacquer peal repair I was told it was panel respray to do it properly. I had a couple of bit where I just touched it in with a touch up lacquer pot. Wasn’t that pretty but not terrible either.

Worth looking at Sam's Motor and Machine on YouTube if you haven't already, extensive repair and upgrades on a L322

Excellent, how are the rear sills and arches?

i picked up a 57 plate in Tonga Green last year, enjoying my time with it so far. TImeless design and the 3.6 engine is comparable in my eyes to the 4.4 - having had two of those. 6 speeds work fine versus 8 and get mid 20s combined
