So Andy.
What transaxle are you going to use?
The M5 V10 is a very complex engine so what will you do to manage the fuel and spark. The OE ECU would be a bugger to crack and need lots of sensor feeds that you probably won't use.
An alternative to the Porsche box with some form of automated shifting for cars like yours and the Ultima is now overdue. A company that can offer a DSG style box inverted (if 911 based) or not if from a mid-engine car, will have customers knocking at their door (if not priced in silly numbers).
We may all like a manual gear change, but there is no doubt that the modern automated gearboxes offer faster changes.

Will be fitting a motec m800... I had already bought one for the GTT many years back but I robbed it recently to put on the noble, I will be getting another as it will run the M5 engine :-)What transaxle are you going to use?

Not adverse to changing to a dsg, if one can be found that could take 700ftlb that I plan.
Update.
Well over the weekend I built myself what is effectively a very large crate in the garden and moved the GTT into this new home... the reason is simple, having practically redesigned and remade my noble to a full carbon body and 700bhp spec I know that the GTT is going to cost me 100k to get to the spec of what I want.
During this GTT project I have divorced, and then remarried last year... My new Wife was not interested in cars one little bit before meeting me so has had an absolute baptism of fire being with me while I / we worked on the noble... and she still married me
Anyhow we often watch these 'Fast and loud' and 'Overhauling' programs and Mrs GTT told me she wanted to do a 'fast and loud' project... take an old classic, strip it to nothing, slap a large engine in, big wheels, nice interior, make it handle with brand new suspension etc etc... we both independently had been hankering over a car of our youth so I guessing you will see were this is going...
Anyhow the GTT is not dead, just officially on hold, here is her new home for the immediate future
new project involves the 2 cars in this picture

going in this
will probably start a new thread when I'm past the planning stage.

The M5 suffered a transmission fault just under 2 years ago, i had it towed to a specialist who diagnosed an SMG pump failure and said it would need a whole new smg system and pump and quoted £4.5k... I couldn't justify that at the time and told them to deliver it to my home which they did while I was still overseas.
I didn't touch the car for 3 months as i was fed up, then when i did go to the car the battery was flat and it was 6inches full of water inside, I was very happy.. transpires they left the fuse box cover off (30 second fitment) under the bonnet and failed to mention this and charged me close to £400 for the privalidge of this incompetence... 4 of the computers were ruined (including engine and gearbox), the engine loom etc.
Anyhow I recently had a different garage change the entire SMG system and got all the electronics sorted, replaced the computers and loom etc... only for the original fault to be present, they had misdiagnosed, turns out it was the gearbox cooler pump that failed at a cost of £500 fitted lol
Regardless if I got it running its a flood damaged car and the car is known for its electronic gremlins (but has bullit proof mechanicals), Im not going to use any of the electronics from the car as am going to use a well proven stand alone ecu... using the original would have been 3 times the money of a stand alone anyhow due to the complexity of the system.

If your lady wife is not a great car fan and this is going to be a joint project, with joint driving privileges, then now may be a good time to buy that skid pan/track day/driver training present for her.
Only you will know if they will need repeating (a few times)!
I hope she does take part in the project and you both enjoy the experience.
Good luck with the project.

Cracked 600+ out of the one in the buggy in it's first incarnation, albeit with some lumpier cams and the majority of the VANOS deleted meaning it was a bit of a pig down low, no cats though obviously helped.
Stuck it on a 5.5" clutch* and a Sadev, shifted smooth as butter - might be an option if you struggle with the OE box?

- The stock clutch looks like you could use it on a HGV. Immensely heavy.

Put plenty of mouse and rat poison (they need different poisons) in there before closing.
They can get everywhere, especially underneath. They love dark places. You may think you have no rats but they are not far away and search for cover in the autumn.
Their teeth continually grow so chewing something is a necessary. Your car could fit the bill.

Might be a good plan to shut a cat in there with the car...They can get everywhere, especially underneath. They love dark places. You may think you have no rats but they are not far away and search for cover in the autumn.
