Hiya Rich
That airbag light stayed off then?!
I feel a bit bad as I forgot to pop that Autocar round over Xmas. I'll pop it by this weekend for sure. Just had my E36 MoT'd today - no problems.
Be interested to see the 540i!
Yeah Mike the airbag light never came on again, I was always careful when hoovering it out. That airbag light stayed off then?!

A mate of mine kept trying to wind me up saying that his Corrado was quicker than my 325i as Autocar had said so, hence I just wanted to see the proof. He's since bought an old copy on Ebay.
M3's back home now too if you want to pop round Sunday to have a nosey.
If you ever need an E36 airbag light resetting again let me know

Actually, the airbag light is on in my 540i, it has the diagnostics port as the E36 so if you don't mind bring your gadget round Sunday afternoon.
Will do - we'll give it a whirl 540 looks good though

Just got in and got your message sorry Mike. I did PM you last night to say I'd been called into work today as services were disrupted due to those cars being hit on the crossing at Moreton on Lugg.
No probs chap - we can have a go next weekend if you like Didn't see the PM on here so I'll have to pay more attention!
Just thought I'd revive this this thread as I took possession of the 325tds about a month ago! Must admit she looks a bit more tired than she did in the OPs original pics. Bit of rust around the door corners and arches.
Would be very interested to know if the tuning box is still in place as she does feel a bit more pokey than I was expecting!
On the downside she has given me a bit of grief....somesort of fueling issue that I've yet to remedy that occasionally means she won't start. Possibly the injector pump which isn't good news.
I'll keep this thread updated with my progress!

Try parking it facing Downhill or uphill. I used to have one of these and one of the 2 would cure the starting problem. It was to do with fuel draining out of the lines!Yea, done a fair bit of Googling and saw that - as you can see from the pic my drive has a slight slope so working on that one. The common problem seemed to be the lift pump in the fuel tank but have eliminated that as the cause. The problem at the moment is when she's running its misfiring, running rougher than a badgers arse. Think its at least one cylinder down if not two
My next spare day will involve taking out the injectors and cleaning them up.

Nice to see it's being owned by another enthusiast rather than just being run into the ground by some .
There was a receipt from about 2005 for both new injector and lift pumps. I thought the lift pump may have been a little weak before I sold the car as it would always start better when the fuel tank was above half full.
They do feel a little flat power wise as standard, the bloke I sold it too also purchased the tuning box so it could still be fitted. It plugs into the engine loom under the inlet manifold, a little black box about the size of a cigarette packet.
I missed this old bus so much I bought another 8 months later, one of the last 1999 models, fully loaded with cruise, climate, full OBC. Been remapped by Enda Ward of End tuning so is a more powerfull car than the old one with the tuning box, remap will pay for itself in 2 years with the fuel saved too.
Best of luck with the car, I'll try and keep my eye on this thread.

comment regarding stiffer rear-end
I've altered the set-up on my E36 320i touring and now run:328touring rear springs, with 40mm rubber assisters.
Even with 17inch wheels, and a boot-full of heavy gear, no scrubby scrubby.
Springs and assisters took 10mins a side to fit
Hope that helps

I'm afraid i'm going to have to disappoint....i'm a ! In all seriousness, it seems it has some sort of injector issue and i don't have the knowledge to fix it. Also it doesn't make bangernomic sense to throw money at a car i only paid £800 for. So i'm afraid its on the 'Bay. I shan't post the link for fear of breaching PH rules, but its obviously not hard to find should anyone fancy a lovely little project. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3009483.htm
One for sale that works if you fancy another once you have sold your current one!

Ovlov 850 a la 1996 vintage..
haha niiiice. My theory was: beemer is worth £1100 as it's nigh on bloody pristine. I owe father 2k for classic loan. Sell beemer, pay father £1k installment, pacify him nicely.
Toddle 2miles up the road, and give the local garage £395 for the following car:
2001, HYUNDAI LANTRA (4door saloon) ES spec.
Full leather, 5 airbags, abs, pas, eleccy windows all round. Wood trim. 52k miles. 1 owner, full HFSH. 1800cc asthmatic engine, 5speed manual
shall I hand my badge in now?
