Project E36 - Track Day Car

Have you managed to sort that now?
Hopefully. We've removed the unwanted heater control valve which seemed to be restricting flow and making bleeding difficult. We're doing a trackday up at RAF Valley next week so we'll find out then.Edited by benny.c on Monday 1st September 15:17
This is an amazing thread, good stuff!! Im new to P.H., but I was thinking of doing an E36 trackday car and read your tales with excited eyes @@. So now I have just purchased a 1995 Blue E36 Coupe 325i on ebay, Can't wait to start ripping out the ballast and making it look more track focused. Prob just concentrate on suspension/brakes first and worry about power later like you have. Not sure my funds will allow a quick build, but lets see ;o)
P.S. I also love the design you have gone with there Benny. It really looks like a pukka touring car. My BMW is a similar shade of blue to the darker "M" badge blue. Anyone know of any nice BMW designs with a mid/dark blue as a base or main colour? I know I should be thinking of the important stuff first, but I really like it when cars look the nuts without going OTT.

Thanks once again for the compliments We re-fitted the fan this weekend and ran the car up and down a private road for 5 minutes, and then let it idle for 15 minutes with some throttle every so often. Temperature was bob on normal so hopefully we've cured the problem - fingers crossed it was the heater control valve causing the overheating. Off to a trackday at RAF Valley on Anglesea tomorrow for a test so we'll find out
DaveShark - What about something like this but in reverse, so the design is mostly dark blue with a white and red flash over the hood?

Well yesterday turned out to be the trackday that never was Woke up at 5:30am full of the joys of spring so that we could leave Mike's at 6am for an 8am sign on. Get a text from Mike at 5:45 saying "don't come round, trackday cancelled". I called him up only to find out the that the guy organising it for us (friend of a friend) had got his dates wrong and it was actually 11 days ago on the 30th Aug He got the date completely wrong, not even the same day in the week. So we'll be booking our own days from now on.
Having spent £100 for the day and £47 to hire the trailer we were pretty pissed. Not to mention half a day off work yesterday to get the trailer and swap wets for slicks. Anyway, rather than waste the day off work we fitted a new lightweight fibreglass boot and proper rear spoiler, both second hand but unused from cancelled projects.
The boot was easily fitted with bonnet pins - a simple bracket holds the bottom ones in place. Whilst the boot is off we are going to sort out the rough bodywork that used to sit under the boot rubbers.
Next up was the spoiler. This is a functional spoiler used by the Kumho BMW Championship cars and it will replace our Ebay special which is now heavily cracked and weighs a ton. We didn't weigh the boot/spoiler combo but we reckon the new kit is half the weight of the old stuff. It's hard to tell until it is sprayed, but I probably prefer the look of the old wing as it was more "retro", but this is a race car not a show car Now the boot and spoiler just need spraying and stickering up
