Fanastic Thread !

I am just about to embark on my track car build with a friend of mine. We have zero mechanical or build experience but what the heck we are going to give it a best try.

I will also be maintaining a build diary which can be found here for those who are interested :-)

My mate does graphics on vans / race cars for a living so even if it doesnt go great it should look the part.....

www.xtremerevz.co.uk

Hope to see you on the track mid next year

Cheers

Sonic

Another little update. We've got the new boot stickered up but we'll probably leave the wing all white - may just pop a Jager sticker on there.

We've been at two trackdays recently, both up at Oulton. It's a wee bit slippery up there at this time of year but our BTCC wets coped pretty well. I had a delicate spin at Hizzy's but managed to bend a rear control arm on the kerbs irked Good news is the local scrappy sells these for £15 - a bonus of having a cheap 325 for trackdays smile

The car has done pretty well for us this season and now it's all tucked away for the winter. First up is a good wash, followed by new headers and a de-cat exhaust. Also thinking about cams but need to look into this further. Just putting together a couple of videos which I'll post as soon as they are uploaded smile

It looks so purposeful all dirty like that.

Mine's currently having the cage welded in at long last, should be able to paint and fit out the interior over Christmas as I've finally got a bit of time off. Looking forward to getting mine out on track alongside your's next summer.

Ok, here are a few videos. The first is a few shots from the ouside;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRJeiC1qgWI

The second is from the interior showing that not even the mighty Gallardo Superleggera can fend off Project E36 wink

Well, that's not strictly true. It shows that on a damp track you're better off in an underpowered car with race suspension, race brakes and wets. I think it helps that Project E36 is worth £6K and not £150K too laugh Shame the camera got knocked getting in the car frown

Great vids - you'll have to look out and see if anyone got any photos with that Vectra in Opel racing colours in too, that would look brill!

Well, one doesn't like blowing ones own trumpet, but by the time I'd got to Island he was about 50m behind - clear track for both of us. It's those ex BTCC wets - they're the work of the devil biggrin To be fair to him, that's an expensive car and way too overpowered and heavy for the conditions. Good on him for taking it out at all. I wasn't that close to him BTW, the camera was zoomed in and makes it look like we are touching bumpers.

Know I know why crap F1 teams pray for rain laugh

My warm down lap was quite interesting thanks to this MX5 race car. I've lost track of how many I've seen go off at Druids in the last two trackdays - must be at least 15 cars.

When I posted that I'd only seen the first 3/4 of the video (stuck in a hotel room with a slow connection) I've now seen the end bit where you cleanly overtake the Lambo on a clear track. Well done.

That was most amusing, I'd have been bricking it getting that close to the Lambo, fair play for nailing it though thumbup

Cheers Matt - You should start putting your name on your pics. If you want to make a living from photography it wont hurt to get your name about a bit.

I love this one BTW

Any overheating issues on the last couple of outings Ben? I see you've removed the grill.
