One question. Did that orange elise in the pictures get past you? Or did you get all the power down after you were done drifting around
That lap was actually supposed to be a "slow and easy" lap since my girlfriend wasthe passenger. However when I approached Adenauer Forst I just couldn´t resist,
disabled DSC and the rest is on those pics
She was not too happy
I chatted later with the Elise guys and they said they enjoyed the show
Just found some old video footage from 2006 and edited
it together today. Unfortunately the sound recording was
messed up so no V8 rumble.
Enjoy

Awesome car
Awesome pics
Awesome spec
Awesome write up
Awesome vids
What else can i say... AWESOME.
Right what can we learn from this.... Stock M5 internals are not strong enough to cope with forced induction.
May i ask what boost you were running to blow her up so quick, and now what boost are you running on the unprated engine?
thanks
Carlos

I think the lesson here is that the stock M5 engine cannot cope with
huge torque levels. The block flexes too much since it´s made out of
aluminium. There is a new kit coming out that is designed by the
same guy that did my motor (http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=110418)
and that will work on stock internals. This kit has lower power levels.
The boost I have been running is about 0.5 - 0.6 bar before and after
the block cracked.
I have no idea how they crashed the Carrera GT and the Ferrari but
it seemed to be a good job.
I have taken the M5 to the dragstrip on 19" street tires and my
best runs were:
12.617 @ 116.57
12.731 @ 116.27
12.613 @ 115.67
I had some traction issues and was loosing boost because of a broken
plenum cover
Hope that Toyo RA1's on 18" wheels and a CF plenum cover will fix this

Here is another "version" of the drift video after I did some
After Effects work on it - looks better:
