Did that 106 get sold to a lad from leeds? I used to be a bit chummy with a lad who bought one just like that, same wheels and everything i think.

Great thread, a very enjoyable read. Fantastic car and well done for getting yourself out on track in time.

Sure did - his name was Rob from memory. I think he crashed it about 6 months after buying it..

Yeah, if i rememeber correctly, it was a fairly easy repair, but he got into motocross, and a transit van. It might even still be sat in his garage!

Brilliant car, I think the E46 is my favourite M3 looks so much better than the other cars you were racing due to the CSL boot spoiler, a small modification but makes a big difference! lick

Well it's over a year since I sold this beastie, but look what has found it's way onto my drive - another 2001 E46 M3 with 61k miles, but this time with SMG box.

Have started stripping her down this weekend - new build thread to follow soon :-)

It's a nasty after market jobbie by all accounts but otherwise car was standard - will be replacing bootlid with lightweight GRP CSL style boot anyways.

There is a brand new gen CSL boot, diffuser & carbon roof for sale on the CSL register at the moment.

Thank you, but the genuine CSL parts are a little on the heavy side for what I need. Single skin paper thin GRP/ carbon is the order of the day!

What are your plans for this M3? Same as before? The last one looked great!

I'm going down the boosted route with this one S/C conversion with methanol injection - circa 550hp.

Looks will be similar although I'm going to make a much bigger effort to get the weight down. The last car as circa 1300kg and my target should be more in the order of 1150kg.

The last car had full glass, double skinned roof/ bonnet/ boot, steel doors and heater matrix etc so loosing the weight shouldn't be too hard a task!

Hoping that she will go nicely!!
