Read this start to finish last night. Some of the comments are funny. I hope you don't take people too seriously OP. Some people like to make their opinions heard!

Anyway, good work on the car. The previous show wheels after getting stripped and re polished looked great. Did you sell them? I prefer them to the latest ones you have (from a show perspective). Interior looks fantastic.

I'm not sure about the new wheels. On the one hand, I reckon they are a nicer design but then on the other hand I think they look a bit empty, it's like there are some big brakes missing or something.
Yeah I know what you're saying. The standard brakes look lost, I'd love to do a big brake conversion, but too much money at the moment.

Yes I sold the other wheels, as I'm stopping showing the car, so the money was used to get these new wheels and tyres for daily use.

I can dig it, brake kits aren't cheap for sure. You could maybe fit brakes from the W8 Passat? I imagine they are a good deal bigger.

Have you thought about getting an EDC to fill your tank? I used to knock about with a guy on the lowrider scene who had about 20gal of tanks in the boot of his green flaked scorpio, the tanks were filled by an EDC and I think he had 1/2" or 3/4" lines so it moved as fast as 36V hydraulics. Very nice install, and more convenient than the 2 12v compressors you've got.

Otherwise, nice car, not a fan of the new wheels compared to the old ones but the interior is lovely.

Not trolling but genuinely wondering - how does it ride and handle with the wheels and height combo?

It's on air suspension, so I can put it at any height I want. This is just the height I park at, I drive with a sensible ride height. As for handling, it handles really well, and the front struts are adjustable, so can stiffen or soften as I wish.

Just to help big dub out answering this, I drove a friends Audi A3 the other day which is on an Airlift air ride setup.

The ride was excellent, rode whatever bumps were thrown at it with no crashing or banging. Handling... Well I was driving an Audi A3 on average tyres, it's never going to handle well. I'd say comparable to a standard car, but a touch flatter in bends if that makes sense.

Generally these air ride setups run really good quality struts, so they ride and handle way better than people think. Definitely the future for people like the OP who run really low cars!

And OP, nice car, seen it a few times at VW shows, looks great!

Thanks - that's interesting.

Any pics at normal driving height?

Someone has finally taken a rolling shot, so you can see the ride height.

Hi OP, I enjoyed reading through this thread. The interior is very nice indeed and whilst I wasn't keen on the brown wheels, I thought they looked nicer in the chrome. What are your future plans - would you go as far as smoothing out all the bodywork?

Unless I come into some money, this is how it's staying. frown

I'd love to do more to it, but the funds aren't there. I really want to redo the boot build to be more practical, but that's going to cost about £1k. Oh and a respray would be nice hehe

It will just be upkeep now, but will keep you posted if things do happen smile

The dub scene leaves me nonplussed, I don't understand it.

However, the sheer level of work and commitment that's gone into this is to be commended. It shines like a new penny, and is at least relatively tasteful.

I do not agree at all with stretched tyres- I have 225s on a 7.5J rim- but that's your choice!

Must say I really liked the wheels you had on before this last set, they looked amazing. The shot of the car where the reflection is visible in the puddle is lovely.

Now have some B5 S4 brakes to put on. Will hopefully fill the void behind the wheels a bit more hehe
