An update on things, the old wagon has gone
Now on to a new project, a 2004 B5.5 TDi 130 Highline Saloon.
Picking up the new car
First thing's first, get it debadged
A couple from GTi Inters '11
The first modification was to up the power a bit. I went for a revo upgrade, which upped power from 130 to 170 and torque from 210 to 280.
Next on the list was wheels, and this ended up being a bit of a saga. A word of warning.......... don't go on German eBay, it's dangerous to your wallet!
Suffice to say, from winning the auction to receiving them, was a nerve wracking 3 weeks.
They finally arrived this morning.
Teaser shot
They're 19" 3pc, 9.5 x 19 front and 10 x 19 rear. Tried a test fit this morning, but they need a spigot ring as they came off a Merc CL500.
Next will be Accuair air-ride, when I can get the funds together, and then onto the bodywork.
Unfortunately updates might be few and far between with funds being slow to save up, too many other things to pay for
Cheers,
Rob

I did a test fit of the wheels today, now that the spigot rings have arrived.
I know what some responses might be from the following pics, but those will be your views, I'm doing this to my tastes.
All arches will be rolled and flared a bit.
Rear wheel
Front wheel
A 10mm spacer will be in order due to the offset of the wheel

Those are some uber-wide wheels! As you say mate, each to their own. It's what suits you at the end of the day.
It wouldn't be the route I'd go down with regards to wheels but it's individual taste. Hope it all works out well. They certainly are shiny. Hope you are gonna get some wheel wax on them to keep them good.

Small update on proceedings.
Got fed up of rolling round on the standard wheels, so sorted some winter wheels early as they came up at the right price.
Finally I managed to start getting some bits for the air-ride!!
A mate of mine had a B5 RS4 on air, running Bagyard Supremes. As luck would have it he recently sold the car to make way for a B7 RS4, and I bought the Bagyards off him as the fronts fit my Passat. Unfortunately the rears don't as mine isn't a 4motion, so the rear struts will be sold to fund either some Bagyard or Airlift bags.
And finally, for now, I purchased some bits off the US ebay, some bumper side markers and a shark-fin ariel.
I got someone to photoshop what the car will look like with the wheels and air on.
I can't wait!!

Bit of an update:
Things are moving along now, nearly got all the air-ride kit.
Just pipework, switches etc to get, it's scheduled to all get fitted week commencing 19th March
Time for front tyres to go on:
Quick polish before hand.
225/35 19s fitted.
Wheels won't be going on as soon as the air is fitted, there are some body mods I want to get done first.

Update time, the air-ride is now on!
Time to make the frame that the main board will rest on
Using the boot carpet as a template
Board done, cut into 2 pieces so the spare wheel can still be taken out.
Back seat up to feed airlines and wires
Door card off to remove the door pocket for remote mount
Getting the valve board sorted
Test fit of the board
Test fit of tank and compressors
Tank board carpeted and tank and compressors in place with copper lines
In position
Wheels gathered for a test fit
All struts, bags and lines fitted, so time for a wheel test fit.
A 9.5" rim tucked!
Bit of modifying needed here. There's enough meat on the back of the rear wheels to have 8-10mm milled off so the rear arches won't need to be flared too much.
All done
Gauges hidden in the glovebox
Blanking board used to keep a useable boot and to protect the install from getting damaged
Remote in door pocket
Some bodywork mods to follow, so will update when they're done, then the 19" wheels can finally go on!

Fair play for doing what you want but starting with a bland as is possible for a car to be vw passat then adding bling wheels and air bagging is seriously crap imo.
But then i'm more into how a car drives and you are obviously more into how "vw scene" it looks. Hope you enjoy it anyway.
