Might be worth getting some daisies or other light (15" would be better for tyre choice) wheels. Those are pretty heavy are they not?
True.

Quite fancy some 13's as I have a set of part worn v70's hanging around in that size.

Thing is, I'm trying to get to as many track days as possible this year and money spent on parts is money that could be spent on track.

Bit of a limited budget having just started a new business.

Keep finding myself on eBay/nuts classifieds regardless though!

Nice car! Very nearly bought one of these a few months back.

If you're after cheap lightweight rims, grab a set of 5 spoke MX-3 alloys, made by Enkei & only 5.5kg each. They look the part on MX-5's too & usually go for half nothing on eBay.

As heavy as the BMW wheels are, they're nice offsets, so I wouldnt worry about the extra weight of them too much, they enhance the car in other ways. More money for the track/petrol. thumbup

I actually have a set of BMW E30 wheels ready to go on my car, they're not *that* heavy and they are ET24, rather than the usual ET38/42... the extra track width may increase wear on bearings, but its negligeable, especially on such a light car.

Fully agree...not surprisingly though since I've bought the same wheelsbiggrin

What tires did you chose, 195 of 205? I like the look of the fatter 205 T1R but I'm afraid they'll stick out a little bit and I don't want to roll the archessmile

Don't forget to get rid of the charcoal canister and all the pipework, it is more than likely not doing anything now anyway, (every kilo matters)

I suffer from a similar weight reduction obsession with my track 5.

there are also loads of little brackets and things i can see under the bonnet that don't need to be there

I reckon there are a couple of kilo's still to go

for tips, look at:

under the 'adding lightness' tab on the left

Have fun stripping...

I've got 195's.

I think you'd be fine with an extra 5mm either side. Loads of space.

Uhu, I've looked at your photos waaaaay too much already...but our wheels are not completely identicalbiggrin You've got the VW Corrado version right?

So ET 33 and a 195: still lots of place

This are the wheels on my car: ET 24, so 9 mm more to the outside: lookd like it's gonna be completely flush with the front wing

And this is a 205/50 on a(nother) 7 inch wide wheel, little bit of meat on the sidesbiggrin

Would you by any chance have similar pics of your 195's?scratchchin

Hmmm. I don't know for certain that mine are g60's It's probably since all my mates are dub monkeys laugh

The best I can do for now is this:

You're trial fit looks like you might have problems. The wheels develop a bit of negative camber when you lower the ride height so you might jst get away with it.

Looks good though. You should get one of those 'hellaflush' stickers innit wink

Starting to turn into a bit of a trackday weapon from the looks of things.

So when are you going to bite the bullet and get it turbocharged? biggrin

Dunno. When you give me your turbo ;-p

Are you tracking yours at all this summer? I'm fancying an afternoon session at Oulton. Quite a few for £115 kicking around at the mo.

Hellaflush? Yeah, I could just dial in 8° of camber and run a 165/35 for increased "hella-dope-ness" and JDM-streetcred. Not forgetting those very cool stickers all over the car, kinda like old people who put a sticker of their favorite radiostation on the carlaugh
Disclaimer: PH smileys are the exception to this rule ofcourse

Anyway the pic is fine, yet even more confusing for melaugh
A friend of mine has a 195 T1R on a 7 inch wide Rota...and that looks slightly stretched, while this looks just rightconfused
If/when you go work on the car, could you look at the centre of the wheel to see wich offset they are and whether they are really 7 inch (I'm also finding some 6,5 inch wide BBS RZ's).

I'm asking a lot, I knowboxedin Or I'll just wait till BCA has got them fittedbiggrin

Hah. Can't see that happening! Unless a lottery win results in my upgrading to rotary power.

For certain, just need to get back in a job then I'll be getting started. Since Oulton is less than an hour away, I'm hoping it'll become like a 2nd home...

Where are they £115? Sounds good value!

Just had a nosey on your flickR. I see you're a talented snapper as well as having great taste in cars/wheels.

I havent got any pics of them fitted im afraid, I have them behind my desk currently looking unloved... I have a spare set of heavily scrubbed 195's in the shed too, so I may finally get round to actually putting them on the car at some point. Unfortunately I am currently absolutely broke and desperately trying to keep my 5, so my initial priorities of doing them up and using them as track wheels has been put on the back burner.

Scho, I'll post up a pick of mine on here sometime soon, I've got to work out where they are hidden on here! It's nothing heavily modified, I actually did the opposite of what I should have done; I bought an immaculate mk2 sport, the best I could afford... except now I cant afford to track it as much as I want (atleast for the moment.)

Will let you know if I am able to make it. May sounds doable, and can't argue with the price. Happy to take you out for a spin in mine, assuming you're brave enough biggrin

Turns out my wheels are deffo BBS RZ off a g60 corrado 6.5J

Thinking it would be quite cool to get two lower offset 7J with off the e30 and run them on the back with a 205 tyre.
