Thanks for the kind words as usual lads.

Updates, I still have air in my lines so I just hope it doesn't turn out to a complete arse ache of a job. I bought more fluid which with a bit of luck will arrive before the weekend and can tackle it then. When I apply pedal pressure currently it still goes all the way down and I can hear it hissing in the bay which I am assuming is just trapped air. It shouldn't be any issue with the mechanical parts as they worked fine before. I am just so busy at the moment, get the keys to our new house later on too! smile

Anyway last nights job was sorting the wiper motor.

I had some issues which are detailed in this thread here: http://www.106rallyeforum.com/forum2008/showthread.php?p=854961#post854961

I got it sorted last night after about 40 minutes of faffing taking it off, adjusting it, refitting, testing, taking off, refitting, adjusting, refitting, testing, taking off, refitting, adjusting, refitting, testing, taking off, refitting, adjusting, refitting, testing, taking off, refitting, adjusting, refitting, testing, taking off, refitting, adjusting, refitting, testing, taking off, refitting, adjusting, refitting etc. you get the picture!

Turns out it doesn't need to be quite 180 degrees round but a lot further round than I had it. For reference, if anyone plans to takes theirs to bits in the future, this is how it should be reassembled to ensure it functions properly.

Wipers now back on and all working AOK - Woooo! biggrin

Ok,updates this week.

Re-bled all my brakes at the weekend again, and please to report so far no leaks and they work too. Had to nip up the bleed nipples a little as had some fluid escaping form them. They were already reasonably tight but am paranoid about over tightening them as I buggered the one in the rear caliper doing this.

She was reluctant to start so removed and cleaned the plugs. Got it going then after some steady gas she was idling fine. It's over fuelling a lot so really has be mapped as it's fouling the plugs.

Gotta fit a speed sensor which I will do. Also need to investigate why the PAS is not working and sort that.

Then the final hurdle of mapping. Now in traditional style as with everything on this car it's going to be an arse ache (as usual I hear you say).

The problem is, I am running an EFI Euro 1 ECU, which as far as I am aware requires a very specific cable to connect to the ECU and map it. Not only can I not locate anyone with said cable, I cannot find anyone who maps EFI (apart from one place who I am waiting to hear back on), so options are thin on the ground currently.

I have emailed track n road so waiting to hear from them. Called but no answer. Same applies for Ole Buhl as they are the distributors for EFI in the UK. I did really want to get it mapped by Sandy Brown but sadly he doesn't map EFI anymore, but he has offered to possibly swap the ECU to a DTA and do that. However it's extra cost and aggro again. Really unsure what to do at the moment?? frown

I did drive it again Sunday for a quick test up the private test track road behind my house, and oh boy is it fun!! It's insane, but desperately needs mapping. Feels quick already but will be even better once set up, just need to work out what to do......

Any more updates on this matey ? one of the best threads in Reader's Cars.
Thanks that's very kind. One of the longest going that's for sure lol.... frown

Well it's in storage at the moment and I plan to get it mapped for the summer so watch this space. It's stored away from where I live which is a bit of an arse in terms of being able to 'pop out' and work on it. I recently bought a house and there is no garage hence having to put it in storage, but she isn't forgotten I will get onto it again.

Well I sent the ECU off to Longmans (Ole Buhl Racing) to be unlocked and have also bought the software and cable to have it mapped (££££) so hopefully things will start moving again soon! Need to save up some dosh again to finish it off.

Can remember this as one of the first readers' rides that I fell for, awesome attention to detail on it and for me right up there with MWStewart's efforts. Would love to own it or one of a similar spec one day, when finished those throttle bodies and the satchshift will make it an absolute joy cool
Thanks very much. Hearing it go certainly makes me realise how awesome it is, just have to map it now. It's just there waiting for me to finish her. I haven't forgotten about it!

IT's been a while........

Still haven't been able to get the time or money to map this yet. I've been doing a lot of work on the house which has clearly been sapping any available funds. I've also been toying with the idea of selling this so if anyone is seriously interested please get in touch. I am not going to give it away or sell it for the sake of it so will only let it go if the price is right. However, everything has a price! We will see. Otherwise I am aiming to get it mapped and use it. I just need to move to a house with a garage so I can keep it closer to home, at least that's the plan anyway.

Thanks Dom.

It would certainly pain me to sell her, but at the moment and for the foreseeable future I cannot see myself having the time and money to invest in it. If nobody makes a sensible offer I will keep it and just old onto it until I get the time to complete it, like I said I am more testing the water than anything but you never know.

Rust and rot is never good on a 106! Mine was full bare metal resprayed and all that dealt with thankfully so it's immaculate.

Re: Price, I have received a lot of enquires but mostly with unrealistic expectations. To give you an idea the car owes me around 20k upwards, so I would be looking to recover between 10-15. I wouldn't sell it for any less. When you look at what you have to spend to achieve similar fun/power, it's caterham or westfield or lotus which are priced in that region therefore it's about right. Or at least it's what it's worth to me should I say. I don't actually want to sell it but storage and time are an issue so if I were to receive a sensible offer I would sell it. We will see what happens. In an ideal world I will find a house with a garage and I can hold onto it.

Any updates OP? Looks like you've had it for sale a while frown
Hi all, I sold it to chap in Yorkshire, very sad i was but it's gone to a great home and he is finishing it off. It's been mapped already and I think Andy (new owner) has done more work since but i'm not sure that he's online much.

I was genuinely gutted to lose this car but I thought long and hard before selling and decided it was for the best. It's going to get used and still nurtured by the new owner so I figure that I did the right thing. It sounds just insane!

Just to update, I still regret selling this but it's in good hands and Andy has done a bit of work on it to perfect it further. She lives on smile

Reminder to all, never ever sell your projects even when you think you hate them as you will only regret it!
