You're a very lucky chap to be driving such a thing, personal plate incl., at such a young age!

Happy Birthday for yesterday!

As a quick update to this, first of all, sorry the pictures at the beginning of the thread are dead links. I deleted everything off my flickr earlier in the year not realising I had them linked to here.

Secondly, some of you may remember the controversy on this thread about the 'fact' that I would crash. Well I've been driving a year and a half now and in ten days I will have passed my driving test for exactly a year.

In that year I've done quite a lot. The Mini tends to be in good company thanks to my job. An average day in the life of my Mini:

When I was too early for a shoot I just park up and took some photos of my Mini:

Out of the world of Mini and into the world of my driving. I've done two airfield days in Dad's Caterham earlier in the year. This is the car:

This is a video of me driving. I've also done some BUKC karting since and reckon I could at least knock off 2 seconds a lap off the times.

Respect. You are driving a Caterham on track and you are a wizard behind the camera.

I REALLY want to be able to take photographs like that and one day I will invest in the equipment and come knocking on your door. In fact, even if I don't invest in the equipment, I'd really like you work your wizardry on my cars. Maybe we can organise a drive out and a photo opportunity in the summer!?

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the kind words smile

I'm not really a great fan of driving quick on public roads any more. I used to drive around quite quickly, but I just don't find it fun anymore so don't even bother. Track driving is a lot more fun and rewarding!

Give me a shout through my profile if you would like to book a photoshoot at some stage thumbup

Not at all - more a realisation towards the end of summer that there's not really any fun in it. Even in something underpowered like the Mini I was doing speeds which weren't appropriate for the roads sometimes and it's just not worth it. I need the car to do my work and if I were to crash/get caught speeding I wouldn't be able to do my job anymore. I enjoy my job a lot!

(yes, I've grown up a bit since going to uni...)

Yeah, was a fun trip that one. Left at 4am in the morning to get there for a photoshoot in the middle of Summer. Perfect example of when the situation is right you actually can have a bit of fun. How often does that happen though frown
Didn't see a single car the whole way in 50 minutes of driving!

Little update time!

The mini has passed 30,000 miles.

And is in good company at home with too many other cars... (and this pic doesn't have the speedster or caterham in it)

Love your photography.

I also have a Orange Porsche 911 (977) GT3RS as my wallpaper if you don't mind.

I liked the trackday video of the Caterham and I think your Mini is very smart.

When I have a half decent car I will ring you up to do a photoshoot!

Although I need to buy my first car yet before I get anything decent. biggrin

Keep up the good work. thumbup

Lovely first car I love Minis/MINIS I own 2 classics and woujld love a new MINI to add to the fleet they're just too small for me everyday so I'll have to wait for a few years until the countrymans start coming up on the used market at reasonable prices. Wish I could see the other photos in the thread. GLad you didn't crash it just proves the doubters on here wrong.

Have you been to any shows?

I use it more as a car which goes from A-B than a show car. I prefer going to events with mates who have nice cars biggrin

A few photos I've take over the few years I've been driving (mainly just test shots):
