Ahhh, this reminds me of such happy times. Mini clubman 1100, 1275GT engine, Mamba wheels soo wide and a tiny momo wheel! We travelled the country in our Minis, no cares, responsibilities, mortgages etc etc.

Enjoy your car, good luck for the test and make the most of one of best times of your life.

Sad murmurings of a just turned 40'old - at least the cars got better ;-)

I started my daughter's car fund the day she was born. I have already told my wife it will only be spent on a mini! Still she only gets it if she does not smoke, do drugs, stay out late, look at boys (at all) but does her homework, gets good grades, is always nice to her parents and grandparents, walks the dog, cleans her room.......I could go on ;-)

I don't want to appear nasty - the car looks really nice and your photography is fantastic. But it just does annoy me a tiny bit when younger drivers say "my car", when it's actually their parent as the main driver on the insurance, and registered in their parent's name on the V5 document! Consider yourself very lucky anyway - bet your dad's first car wasn't that fancy. wink

You're not alone - I found a really nice long road today, parked the car nicely, got out the car, then when walking away from it a car came flying down the road frown

Here's the only one I managed to take... http://www.flickr.com/photos/insh1/4245957462/ - What tips do you have on taking the best photographs of cars? Never that happy with the results I get.
Lovely Mini by the way

First thing I consider is the location. The location has got to suit the car. For example, a city car would ideally be shot in a city, something that's been built in a small factory (such as Caterhams) outside a warehouse.. etc. I use google maps to help, then check them out before the shoot.

The next thing is the angle of the car and composition - I think in advance and get a picture in my head of what I want to achieve in the photo.
random tip: make sure you have more alloy facing you then tyre with the front wheels

With the composition I think about how far back I will stand, how high I am going to be and technical settings on the camera, such as apature, flash etc - with the pic above I was using a fairly high angle so that you can see the road behind the car

With the pic of the Rover there are a few problems. You have used natural light and it is backlit. This means that the side of the car is in shadow, so the car is not going to 'pop' and stand out. Next the composition is a bit 'snapshot'. It just looks like you got out of the car and snapped the shot. If you were to put the car at an angle in the road, facing towards the trees and then shoot from just beside the trees from a nice low angle it would be better.

That's just getting started and I hope it helps - I could ramble on for ages.. pm me if you have any specific questions smile

for 17, maybe 18, you seem a clued up down to earth bloke. Well done!

I had a mini at 18 and everyone thought I would crash that. 6yrs & 81,000 miles later it was fine (despite a broken gearbox or two!)

Might pm you about some photo advise sometime smile

I spy Denbies!

Are you allowed to drive up that track/about the vines freely, or do you know people that work there?

Also, the pic of the murci on a twisty country road with 30 signs on your website... that's less than a minute from my house. if only i'd seen it drive past!

ps nice mini.
