Vauxhall Omega 3.0i MV6
Discussion
I think ive posted the odd pic or 2 before, but decided to do an actual post...
After the birth of my son last year, i decided it was time to get a more family orientated car (i had a very low and loud civic at the time!)
I used to have a 2.5 V6 CD... but always fancied a black MV6.. so seein as this one came up on ebay and wasnt too far away (fife), i thought feck it why not!
Nice enough price, black mini facelift omega 3.0 MV6 (retail, not ex plod), with 2 previous owners (last one only got it the previous october), and a FVSH. 8)
First pics of it when i got home...
Not long after, i changed the grill to same one i had on my previous omega, and fitted smoked side repeaters...
I had concidered selling it last november as i was gettin a bit bored with it, but decided to press on and modify it!
I fitted optional rear sun blind and cruise control, then it was down to Diamond tints on monday to have the windows done 8)... also bought a set of FK coilovers to go on
Pics... some from just before the tints...
And a few just after the tints were done...
In january we ended up with too many cars, and as the omega was due cam belt change and few other problems to be sorted, i SORNd it and took it off the road. Since then ive been driving a leon cupra R, but there just isnt enough space in it so we've decided to sell up.... which means the omega has to make an appearance again! B)
Its lay pretty untouched since january. I took apart one of the headlights to find it was broken, so its sat like this all that time...
Rear arches are gettin a bit rusty too...
I also bought a set of facelift door trims that ive primered ready for paint, also dechromed the bumpers and got a new headlight.
Roll on to end of august and i brought it out for some work.
Jacked it up, and on the way back down, half of my rear spring popped out and fell to the ground  looks like ill be fitting the coilovers sooner than i thought!
Got a load of parts waiting to go on, including cam belt kit, rocker gaskets and facelift bumpstrips. Also got stuff to tidy up all the rust on rear arches. Going to take the brakes off too and tidy them up as theyre quite rusty from being sat for nearly 8 months. Shes looking pretty rough as hasnt been washed since december lol Work will commence next week, now ive got the leons CV joint changed lol
Gaves the wheels a quick spray of black, nothing spectacular as its temporary
Did this too when i was bored lol going to polish up the inlet plenum and do a few other things under bonnet
The other day i decided to start fitting the coilovers. Only got drivers side front on atm, having a problem with top nuts so will have to pick some up before i fit the other side, then its onto the rears! the 235 wide tyres are scrubbing the coilover atm too, so will have to work something out (spacers or thinner tyres)... also discovered another snapped spring!
Not sure how much i lowered it by, but there was still another few cm of thread left to go down... this may be the new ride height, but ill see how it goes
(Sorry bout pic quality, only had my phone on me)
The post might not make sense as ive just copy and pasted updates from another sites and tried to tie in the words

They destroy m-way journies
I need to get all the suspension done on mine as it’s knackered but can’t justify coil-overs so will just fit some MV6 springs with Bilstein shocks. The wishbones look like they are gonna be awkward to do. I’ve got new front brakes to go on – OE discs with OE pads or Black Diamond pads. Not sure which yet. It’s running plod-spec Pagid pads at the moment but they are a little overkill for the road

Nice! A fellow Vauxbarge-owner!
Pure loafing, and so easy to torque around town. Even reasonable MPG on a run.
Quite addictive - I got my MV6 (facelift/manual) as a "stop-gap" about 2 years ago (Must get pics up)
I do prefer the front and side profile of the older shape I must admit.
Considered the pagids and thought maybe a bit too much for the road; I really could use a little extra faith though. Big (read:BIG) stops don't fill me with settled confidence (New OE discs and pads). I'll be watching with interest

Nice to see other owners!
The coilovers i picked up for £100 2nd hand - the kit is nearly £600 new.
I was considering puttin a facelift rear bumper on, but not sure what to do, i prefer the front end of the prefacelift too.
Atm i have standard fit discs and pads on and found them to be ok, but like you said, need a bit more confidence in them at times!... had considered EBC redstuff pads and grooved discs when i was changing them but couldnt justify the cost at the time

I only bought the car for a 'ring trip and I assumed that the brakes would be destroyed. So I bought some Black Diamond Predator pads to fit before the trip. When I went to fit them I discovered that there were still plod-spec Pagids on, so I left them. Didn't experience any fade during a dozen or so laps and also one very high speed (145+mph) autobahn "emergency" stop. I've subsequently acquired a set of OE discs and pads at a good price from a dealer that was clearing stock. The brakes are still fine, although you obviuosly lose some bite from cold but thinking that I may as well change them as I have a new set. Probably won't fit the Black Diamond's as I can't see me going on track again (I could always swap the Pagids back) so maybe someone would be interested in them?Pure loafing, and so easy to torque around town. Bumpstrips on, washed and MOT'd!
had to raise the back end a little to get in and out my driveway, although it looks quite high in those pictures as its parked on a hill
these were only taken when i was doing a job for someone and had the camera in the car, need to get proper pictures at some point
