Having just bought a 540i touring I'll be watching this project intently.

What are the figures for a bi-turbo? Don't know anything about them TBH.

Christ, even with 286bhp my touring shifts. With an extra 80bhp and probably less weight this should be epic. Did they ever make any touring versions from the factory or will yours be a first Charlie?

Chuck, are you going to leave it cosmetically the same with just the nuthouse engine lurking?

This is going to be epic.

Just be sure to install a fire extinguisher (don't ask).

I think the Alpina trimings would be entirely appropriate. Otherwise there's no point in fitting what is a notoriously recalcitrant engine when the '520i' effect could be achieved via a debadged 540 with a supercharger. Nein?

Besides, having driven past a rather lonely looking E32 B7 today, I can confirm that the E32/4 Alpinas are thee coolest looking cars ever made yes

Its getting a front alpina spoiler, undecided on the stripes. Wanted to put the interior in too but someone swiped it from the car before i bought it.

Often see an E39 Alpina touring on the way home, reckon its the absolute perfect all-rounder. An E34 equiv is the same just cooler! V jealous..

I'd imagine there are clearance issues between the steering colulm and turbos/exhaust manifolds that wouldn't fit on a RHD car.
