All sorts of wants!
when its in i wonder how different the weight distribution is over a standard rex???
We will find out....when its in i wonder how different the weight distribution is over a standard rex???
The new diff is ally, by the way, so despite looking a lot larger, i think its actually lighter?
Or maybe that was the Cobra diff? I can't remember now.
I'll be up there on Saturday, and can't wait to see Craig's face when I start trying to weigh this Viper diff, a standard Rex diff, this new subframe, and a standard Rex subframe.....
As i said on the last page, a little more weight over the rear would be no bad thing at all. The V8 did move the weight forward a touch, and getting out of corners with 475 foot pounds instead of the 340 I used to have (as a single-turbo rotary) is definitely harder (though its probably not slower, you just have to me more careful). There'd be a case for adding ballast over the rear axle, the extra power and torque would handle it fine. People used to put bags of cement in the backs of Capris, after all.

MADNESS.
Why would anyone pull out a perfectly good sportscars motive power and drop in some old Yanks Pushrod Iron!!
Its not iron. Its not old. At least get your facts straight before spouting MADNESS.

Anyway, the answers are 'because I want to' and 'because after three years ownership when the rotary blew up, I fancied something different'.

Assumed there would be some updates after the weekend.
Was good to speak to you and Taz on the weekend Andy. Even better to finally experience one of these on the track. My thanks to Taz if he comes on here! Car was everything I hoped it would be.
Look forward to the day when we can all meet up at the track with finished builds.
Our progress here if you're interested.

hi jellison you will have to forgive andy hes missing his car ! he is used to all the rotary numptys not having there facts correct. not that you would have had anyone have a go at you for ruining a TVR .
Hi Craig. Ya I had a few moaners when I did mine (early 05 I think!), though they are pretty common now a days!I have gone old schoold with my next one First on race day, super trick 302 based lump for well over LS7 poke in a TINY TVR
Paper - nice job BTW.
Still waiting on the cam from the yanks (they are NOT fast movers....) and so to keep things progressing Craig has thrown in one of the multiple LS motors he has lying around the place so that he can continue with getting the gearbox in place and get the propshaft ordered.
The propshaft? I'm a subtle man so I've gone for the full monty; carbon fibre with a CV joint to match the TR6060 'box. $1250 from somewhere or other in the states. Tested and balanced to 8000rpm, it should hopefully address some of the high-speed vibrations these cars can suffer from with the non-standard engines. Hopefully it will arrive faster than the cam
Gearbox mount done:
Gear lever in the right place:
On a side note, my TR6060 has no oil cooler attached. Maybe thats why it was so cheap? Craig says to try it without, I remain convinced it will overheat just as the T56 did.
