Hopefully the other way around. I never liked the other engine having more torque than power, it felt like there was no reason to rev it. I asked for a cam that would do the opposite, and it should make peak power at 6800rpm.

...and the red line? I think the red on the tacho being higher than that of the new engine would irritate me (sad I know!).

Rev limit will be limited by the intake, I would think. We'll see.

The clock thing doesn't bother me; as a single turbo rotary my red line was higher than the one on the clock, so the other way doesn't matter either.

What an awesome graph! 400 lbft from 1750 - 6500rpm, very nice, usable power everywhere, but worth revving too!

Wow, that cam doesn't seem to have harmed the low down torque at all. Most cam plots I've seen lose out around 3K. Peak power doesn't seem to have shifted much at all either. Here is the stock Camaro plot for reference. Worth noting that there are torque limiting strategies in place and the Corvette active exhaust yields another 10bhp.

Regarding the red line. One option is to use the auto gauge which has a lower red line.

Look forward to hearing what you think of the new engine, box and rear ratio.

Cam does look really good, its a great spread of power. Just about to call the mapper, as I wasn't there when it was done.

Honestly? I don't really care about the red line....with the auto one it would actuaklly be right for the first time since i owned the car; it was 6600 with the LS2 and 8000 with the single-turbo rotary. I just use my ears smile

Every time I'm convinced I'm going to fit a single turbo to my RX-7 and I see this thread I begin to dream of V8s again. If I work out the costs after selling my engine and Power FC, it doesn't look so bad....

Cruising at 90:

I LOVE the new gear ratios. Thats 6th gear, at 90, at about 1900 rpm.

3rd gear is now THE gear for making progress cross-country, on small A & B roads. Pulls like a lunatic from 40 to.....not sure yet, very fast. Amazing for overtaking.

I haven't used the lights boxedin We stayed the night in Chesterfield and got there before it got dark. Now its the next morning, and light again! I guess making the lights work really well at the time of year when the days are longest means I won't actually feel the benefit of them until the days get shorter again. Though when I get home I'll probably go out at night just to try them!

Steering wheel.....I like. Drove all day yesterday with it, felt just fine.

Car is still too hot inside; god we needed the aircon yesterday, and it wasn't working as we knew. Thats getting fixed as soon as we get home. But there's more to it than that; the aircon is a sticking plaster for the problem of the gearbox. Car is fine when driving on the motorway; temps as above in the picture. But then they closed the M6 and the A road alongside (which we were already on) was just a traffic jam of people coming off the M6. So we spent 45 minutes in traffic at walking pace or at a standstill. Water never got above 101, oil hit 105. No issues there, but by now the centre console is almost too hot to touch. So we get out of the jam but it doesn't matter; that car is now hot and will never cool down, for the rest of the whole day. Even joining another motorway and getting oil and water temps back down to what you see in the picture did not help; the centre console stays hot, and it must be the gearbox; it has no way of cooling itself down.

Thats the number one job now; adding a cooler to it.

Suggestions welcome; my TR-6060 is not plumbed for a cooler like the Camaro-sourced one is. The holes are not even there. So we need aftermarket stuff.

Can you wrap the trans tunnel with something to make it a little cooler for the passengers ??

That doesn't really make sense.

The only way the gearbox can generate heat is by the gears / shafts turning if you are moving slowly it can't generate much heat at all - even if it was hot from the M Way it would cool pretty quickly (certainly in 30 mins) once stationary.

Are you sure it isn't the heat from the engine / exhaust you're feeling ?

In my TVR exhaust heat can be horrific. My SC'd MX5 on a summer track day the box got so hot I couldn't touch the alloy gear knob and had to swap the OEM plastic one back on.
