Papercup's V8 RX7
Discussion
I meant how hot inside the car.
I know what you mean about ignorance being bliss - the more you learn about modified cars the more you realise how much can go wrong and how lucky you've been up to now. I run with Boost, Oil temp, Water temp, Knock monitor, Air Fuel Ratio gauges and in my (modified) van an EGT gauge too when I'm towing.
I know they are ceramic coated but I've never experienced how well that works - I can happily hold my hand on my blanketed manifold with the car running.
My TVR with its stupidly designed manifolds would cook me within 10 minutes of driving and was uncomfortable to work on when running (setting the timing etc) almost immediately.

Where were the pics? I'm looking now and they aren't on the specific trackday thread....must be on another thread somewhere?
See herehttp://www.fduk.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31324&a...
I originally dismissed it as yours when I spotted the slicks, based on our conversation regarding Taz's. You must have changed your mind!
Appreciate your detailed write ups. It's great information for a current builder!
How do you find the LSD in the Viper diff compared to the original Torsen? Has it changed the way the car handles?

I love it; its so much better than the torsen. The car has always been a bit 'snappy' at the rear; when it went, you had to be quick to catch it, and I don't mind admitting that in the wet, i wasn't sometimes. Now it progressive and controllable. Bear in mind the LS2 had similar torque and the mazda diff fitted, so I know that this latest change is purely the Viper diff.
I love driving it in the wet on road tyres now, its comical, and not scary any more.

Brighton Speed Trials this coming weekend
Hey Andy - good luck at the speed trials. I didn't check the calendar as I'm doing a trackday at Rockingham on Saturday. I would have popped along otherwise Next years I'll be there. The build looks great - still following this thread regularly.

What number where you running as at the speed trials? because 2 v8 powered RX7s was very confusing ha. got some pictures of both so some of yours ha, ill post them up if you want? they both sounded absolutely mighty at the start line.
mine was the one with the greeen wheels!i bought a set of drag slicks and they were fantastic; really hooked up off the line. I got a 12.01 on the final run, after a previous 12.06. I wanted an 11 so bad at that point!
oh well, next year......
"Possibly a wierd statement, but, err, are you Papercup?"
A pleasure to finally meet you. We were parked next to you in the TVR.
Those MT's really hooked up well, too well in the case of the first tyre warming attempt, that marshall took a few steps back every time after that.
Slightly off topic, but what was the make/type of your tyre pressure guage? It was very good!

Was nice to meet some other PHers. A few others came by and said hello as well, my car is starting to get noticed a fair bit these days. Kinda cool.
The marshall was a mate of mine and hasn't shut up about me 'trying to kill him' since. Burnouts were impossible; those things just WENT. They were M&H by the way, not Mickeys.
The tyre pressure gauge is a......wait for it.......Halfords!
