I'm at the same time happy for you and yet disappointing at the Spider suddenly finding a level of reliability that shames my Ford.

I await a late summer tale of woe to even this up. biggrin

ETA. This thread is better with stories of driving to England in the rain with broken windows . wink

I've been following this thread since the start and it still didn't put me off buying a 916 Spider, albeit not as good as yours.

Good luck with the new clutch!

Limped it to the garage this morning.

Could only select 3rd gear, but luckily traffic was light and I managed to limp it through every junction without having to stop! hehe

Lets see if I get it back at the end of the day in working condition, I have a nagging feeling that I wont.....
Piece of pi$$ Alex.
Its the gear selector under the gearstick sleeve. The plastic snaps and lets the arm move. open it up and you'll see a bar running at in parallel to the dash which can be forced side to side (only when broken).
Good news is its and easy fix. Bad news is the part only sells the whole plastic turret, which is bolted to the floor, and the bolts are under the cat to release the turret. Basically its and easy, but not cheap repair hehe
Mine went on my V6.

The bold part is something that this thread has taught me about these cars. hehe

I don't know if i should congratulate you for them sticking with the quote or feel sorry that once again it still proved to be more expensive than planned.

I'm about 11 hours in for a gearbox change on my TS (the diff appears to have gone) and I've still not got it off yet! It's not an easy job (I am learning alot enroute!)...

Great thread here A lex. I think most people would have given up on the car and got rid when you've kept it.

YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW MUCH THAT LITTLE LOT COST (and repeated use) made me laugh out loud, I've had to explain why now to those around me tongue out

What's the mileage at now, 160k ish miles? That's pretty good biggrin

I must be sick. I started looking in the classified section after reading this thread. I suppose I do already have an alfa, so I am already afflicted.

The Utrecht Spider looks to be missing much of it's front end - crash damaged?
Anything else worth having off it?
I mean, you can't have too many wheels in your garage, eh? wink

hehe

I've just read the whole of this thread - good going keeping with it, I think many would have given up long ago.

My Dad was all set to get an Alfa Spider a few years back, but his mate who ran an Alfa dealership refused to sell him one, for the reasons apparent in this thread. There's still something that makes me want one though, or possibly a GTV.

When I was at MUAC I was dreading importing my car from Luxembourg into the Netherlands, but ended up writing it off instead. Before I replaced it I had my training terminated and moved back to the UK, so managed to dodge that PITA.

Needs a new badge for the cherry on the top. The badge cannot be bought alone (predictably) so includes the grill and surround.

Azev A's are still one of the best looking wheels out there, after all these years!
