Explains why we found little bits of the teeth attached to the sump plug... behind the flywheel... coming out of an oil way... and in the bottom of the sump!

What's wrong with the driving lamps? (they aren't fog lamps...)

It was always the plan, and we bought 4 to start with. Just playing with ideas on how to mount them. Eventually just put them through the grill with small aluminium plates behind the grill to spread the load.

Dad made some aluminium spacers for the twin carbs to fit over the exhaust manifold.

Carbs on for the first time. Haven't set them up yet so seem to run remarkably well. There is some leaking from the right carb fuel line when idling, Dad thinks it might be because we have a mechanical pump and might have to go electric so it stops pumping fuel when the pressure builds. Any ideas?

Sounds good!

It really shouldn't be leaking fuel with any pump, check all the connections and hoses.

I put twin 1 1/2 SU's on my old Mini, it never ran right.

Put a 1 3/4 SU on and it was perfect.

They really do sounds glorious on twin SUs, the noise was by far my favourite thing about my 1275 GT. Even better without the filters smokin

After I stopped filming I went to check on the leak that my Dad can be heard talking about in the video. I could feel the intakes sucking the air away from me smile

Twin SU's look great, but will make less power that a single 1 3/4 and more fiddly to set up. Twin SU's came with black plastic spacers as standard. Used to run a 1340 cc on a single 1 3/4 with a torque master inlet, as gave up with twin 1 1/2's. Looks a great car, just keep the rust at bay and all will be good for a long time. Sadly the only bit that doesnt rust is the glass. I had a '61 mk 1 and in those days, Austin used to foam fill the sill and the sills never had rot, even when I restored it when 30 yrs old. Do miss my old car.

We're not worried about power at the end of the day. It's a 998 with less than 50bhp. It does feel willing though. As I said it's smiles per hour rather than miles power. Hearing those twins sucking air brought a big smile to my face.

Good to hear so many peoples stories though, keep 'em coming!

Took her for a spin today. Still need to adjust the throttle as not getting it fully open. Induction noise is hilarious though. So much fun.

Dad fitted new points, condenser and battery this week ready for another summer of fun.

It looks like every photo link is broken now. I'll just put the latest ones here and maybe update the OP.
