quite, how old is this vehicle then?

What percentage of the original car remains? Not much evidently, some inconsequential elements of the floor probably.

A Q plate is not some sort of slur, it is just a manifestation of circumstances. The car is in many respects essentially brand new, but with older elements like the engine block.

Has team red victor taken any advise on the specific legalities regarding maintaining the age specific status of this vehicle? What are the definitions that decide on when the car has evolved too far away from the original to be considered the same car.
Well, i can't imagine what it's got to do with you, or anyone for that matter.

Tell you what. Next time someone asks this repetitive, stupid question and i'm going to ask Slinky to remove this whole thread, and put a note up where it was to say "Thanks to x for ruining this thread".

Don't believe i'll do it? Try me why don't you...

rolleyes This old chestnut again. rolleyes

You could say the same thing about almost every single hot rod, chav mobile, road legal track day car, camper converted van, kit car, heritage shell built or restoration that's on the road right now.

The simple fact of the matter is if all kit cars, restorations, hot rods and heritage shell builds were built to the same standard as Red Victor III the roads would be a much safer place. I've seen some cars on the road that have been so poorly bodged together that if the owners asked me to drive them; I'd have them arrested for attempted murder.

Come to think of it if new cars were built to the same standard and attention to detail as Red Victor III the roads would be a much safer place but new cars are built to cost and compromise and I can't see any sane person spending the time, money and effort on a school run shopping trolley. Andy and the team have built the car for one purpose without compromise and in this day and age as well as being a miraculous technical achievement it is also applaudable for the sheer nonconformity of it.

I truly feel sorry for you if you can't see that.

In other words pull the stick out of your arse and stop trying to ruin the thread for rest of us

whoa whoa whoa,

i think you read that completely wrong, i WAS NOT having a go, AT ALL!!! if anything, the questions were rhetorical. maybe the fact that the written word is unable to convey sentiment contributed to your misunderstanding.

I love your car and am truly curious as to where the line lies in relation to Q plate status. nothing more and nothing less......

There are many ways of avoiding a Q plate.

If Andy chooses not to publicise how he did it, that is his call.

quite, i agree, and it is absolutely his right to do so, but biting my head off for asking a legitimate question was a bit ott, imo!!!

Greg, the last two posts you have made on this thread have generated a certain type of response. I've seen this in your response to your posts elsewhere. Do you think, perhaps, that it could be your positing style?

possibly, i'm a bit of a lazy bugger and can't be bothered to write chapter and verse explaining every possible nuance of my posts.

that said, i did say that a Q plate is in no way a slur, so the tone of my post was pretty clear (i thought) and saying that a car is pretty much brand new is also not generally considered an insult where i come from (about 20 miles away from andy as it happens) and subsequently wondering out loud at what point a car becomes fundamentally different from it's original form i thought was a non contentious question - it appears that i have touched a major nerve and i'm honestly staggered as i considered it a perfectly reasonable question.

So for clarity, if i have offended you andy, i apologise. feel free to send me a PM if you would rather discuss it off the board. i don't wish to derail this thread.

Andy,

Is there any point in doing some basic aero work via computer, all in time for next year.

All the best, and ignore all the rubbish.

Sorry but I'm going to mention Drag Week.

http://youtu.be/2eJWSxNzMD4

It looks like a lot of fun and even though the clip only shows the contenders there are dozens of cars involved over the five days.

Can we do or try something similar over here using UK strips?

http://www.motorsportcircuits.co.uk/html/drag_stri...

Okay the distances from strip to strip won't be as much as the American version but I'm sure a like minded bunch of people could organise something. I'll put a few feelers out and see what happens. Costs and calendar will be the main issues.

Has it been tried before? If so what went wrong?

If anyone else thinks it's a good idea and knows anyone at tracks/teams/organisers why not put it to them?

For me there is only one track to race on. York and Shakey are totally out of the question.
Plus in the US they ride around on ET streets legally. I'm not sure plod here would be so receptive to slicks with 3 grooves in them.Wheelie bars the same... Not to mention the road system is completely different in the UK.
There is so much work to organise it, that is the main reason for never trying it here.

A UK version of Drag Week doesn't have to be exactly the same. I'm sure a support vehicle with the track bits could make life easier. As for the authorities whack on a couple of "Help for Hero's" stickers and donate a percentage of sponsorship or winnings (working on that one) to charity for a get out of jail free card unless you're being particularly silly and deserve their attention.

I'm sure the top guys would be pulled over just so the officer can have their picture taken with the car. wink

Not really Paul. Things are going on,but nothing worthy of mentioning yet.
I will have the engine apart soon, and will be auctioning the rods and pistons out of the worlds quickest street engine,if anyone's interested of course..

We will be on Motors TV with the story of the build. November 6th at 5.50pm,and repeated a few times in the week.

I'll be intrested in buying a rod when you've taken the engine apart. It's a good job you mentioned about the tv programme, as I'd forgotten about it.
