Mate i had one in yellow as a first car 2500s, i believe the colour was turmeric yellow, correct me if that's wrong. Great fun, i actually want another one and sharpen it up, with some webbers perhaps. Good choice

a mate of mine has an MGB, and no offence MGB boy, it was not up my street at all.

@XJR500 Nice, wouldn't have Tumeric though, that was an early SD1 colour. Probably would have been Honeysuckle or Inca or something like that. I'll get my coat... A 2500 on triple webers would certainly be a beast, but it is said nothing can beat a correctly set up 2.5 PI

Out of interest were there any other classics you considered before settling on the Triumph?

Hmm... Rover P6 , but it would have had to have the 3500, so really out of the question for insurance and petrol reasons. I came really close to buying a 1972 Range Rover 3.5 on LPG. But to be honest, I was really after a Triumph, family ties, influences, things like that. Grandad had a 1300 TC (a very rare beast); Great uncle had a 2.5 pi.

Are your parents on the insurance out of interest?

Ideally I would like to insure a Mk3 Capri 1600 Laser without them.

Dad's a named driver, I'm the main. No fronting going on here! Might consider putting mum on as a named as well to see if it lowers the premium.

If you have to claim, Does it affect your Dads no claims / premiums etc?
I need to convince my Dad to go on mine when I learn to drive...

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how it affects the premium having dad on, because I never got a quote without him on it. It was a given really that he would be on it. Why would your dad not want to drive an MG? Or is he a Triumph loyalist and therefore cannot drive one as long as he lives?

Your very right, the old man had a 3500 p6 in that colour. I love the p6. Ultimate triumph is TR6, anyhting TR7 onwards is vulgar. GM ruined them. I do like the dolomite though. I'd have another one just for the smell and the creaky quarter lights.

mm do like all the cars you have just mentioned there, bar the TR7. I tried very hard to see if you could make one look good. I concluded no, it would always look awkward. What did GM have to do with the downfall of Triumph?

Yeah was thinking that, then I thought, maybe there was a GM conspiracy against Triumph/BL in the States. Possibly.
