wheel hp in the states always seems to be higher than over here, no matter what the car!
Why is that ?

Different dynos I guess. Their WHP figures seem to be the same as our flywheel figures, when using the same mods and getting the same 1/4 mile times and terminal speeds.

What's more confusing for me is how different dynos come up with transmission losses!... On my car for similar power to me some claim as much as 120bhp but I've had dynos say it was 50bhp... So there are cars with less whp than me in the states with 50bhp more??

But the most confusing thing for me is where the 120bhp is going... I mean that's a huge amount if energy, it's certainly not going into noise as it would literally be heard 10miles away so it's only going to heat... And that's a massive amount of heat!

Andy its not that much heat! if you think your engine is generating approx 600bhp worth of heat and the little rad at the front is getting rid of all of it.

I think USA fuel is the same, but the numbers are lower because they use a slightly different rating system.

No Chris... ALL of that energy is going into moving the car, well maybe a tiny into heat into the tyres when they wheelspin... what your refering to I suspect is the engine making a further load of energy on top of the 700bhp which is turning into heat, but I have both oil and water cooling to remove this heat, along with huge radiators etc.. I also have an exhaust were a large amount of the heat is also expelled.

What is taking the heat away for the 120bhp transmission losses, it has a small amount of oil with a tiny rad yet the box doesnt go over 110deg c... so were is all that power going if its not going to heat?
