I'm gonna cut the bulk in with a small grinding wheel on a multitool, then I'll finish and blue it in with some little diamond files. It's gonna be fun...

Okay, not really any updates, I've been busy trying to find work and away over xmas and Ed's been busy finishing off a new car for a friend of ours, so the buggy's not had a whole lot done to it in terms of upgrades this time, for the first time in a long time!
The gearbox came back assembled, it's had a check over and has been refitted, there was some minor damage to the front of the frame from jumps and rough landings that's been repaired, the rear inner trailing arm bushes were completely shot but that's on us we were going to sort them out last year and completely forgot last winter - probably explains why it got rather tail happy on the last event or two as it was moving the rear toe around a lot.

Apart from that it's just been a service and a check over when Eds been there doing the other car anyway - it got taken out today to bed the new gearset in and 3rd and 4th are a huge difference, it drops into vtec even with a short shift for traction in the slippery stuff now and even lugging from down low off vtec feels much better as it'll pick up and go.

Hopefully now that means no having to drop to second just for 2-3 seconds of acceleration any more on tight corners, or leave it in 3rd and just wait and wait until it picked up its heels to go.
Second gear should just be for launches, steep climbs and hairpins now, 3rd will pull anything else outside of square corners and 4th is far more useful now for sweeping curves, whereas before it was basically for the longest straights only and maybe a couple of times per stage.

Of course, being straight cut the car's even noisier now hehe

Well, first event of the season today at Walters Arena in Wales, fingers crossed.
I'm not there as I had an interview friday and am prepping for a new job.
Feels weird not being at the first race, but if anyone is nearby, spectating is free, you can go update me biggrin

Nice to get something at last, might mean less racing for a while unfortunately for me, but I'll try to keep things updated.

The brake calipers are supposed to be slightly distorted with the seals melted to the body and the anodising a funky purple colour, right?

Also the brake bells resemble pretzels now.

I don't think the shear amount of time they were glowing yellow hot helped either (3 minutes in, sharing it at a timestamp seems borked):
